So, how’s it going

School update: the open house was fine. 6-year-old has a teacher and a classroom, and one of his friends is in his class, so for now it’s good. We’ll see how he settles in.

Walking around the school during open house with older son (11-year-old in 6th grade) was what I would think of as normal – he was excited to see a couple of friends in the halls and in his class.

By contrast, walking around with daughter (8-year-old in 3rd grade) was like that scene in Goodfellas where Henry Hill is walking through the Copacabana and greeting everybody. “Hey, how ya doin, good to see ya”. Somehow she seems to know everybody. I didn’t see her slip any doormen a $20, but who knows.

At a motel in Portage la Prairie, Man. on our way to Langley, BC. My son is watching silly YouTube videos on his tablet. I am chilling watching MSNBC because that’s my idea of relaxing. :man_shrugging:

I take concert pictures just for fun, but I do love the occasional photo credit shout-out. This is from a photo that I posted on Instagram after last night’s The Damned/Suzi Moon/Darling Machine show here in Atlanta.

My original photo is below. I like the above black-and-white better, though.

During my time off, my plan was to declutter, purge, and clean. Sunday I cleared out two bags of clothes. Yesterday cleared out four garbage bags of clothes and two of shoes (don’t judge). I could probably sell a lot of the stuff on Poshmark, but that takes work. Some goes to the YWCA for their interview closet and the rest goes to Goodwill.

Cleaning will have to wait since water is out at my condo complex. Our complex was built in 1952 and we have the pipes to prove it. There’s a pretty big leak but they can’t find it. It’s been going on since Friday. We’re on the waitlist for a leak detection specialist—a specialist that is booked out for a week. This all started on Friday. So, water gets turned off during the day (while the plumbers try to figure out what’s up) and the. Turned back on at night. They turned it back on over the weekend, too, once they found out having it on wouldn’t do any structural damage. It’s sucks but at least we still have water.

Got to where we’re staying in BC Friday just in time for my wife to get Covid. Still good to see her after two months but it’s not the reunion anyone had hoped for. Ah well, making the best of it.

Very much so. I got my first one about eight years ago. I told my tattooer if I survived that, I wanted a sleeve. Started the sleeve shortly after—once a month for a year I got more work done. Then I came up with another one. Then another. Then I said I was done, until I wasn’t. Once I had two sleeves, I moved to my back (upper back and I have a collar). Then I moved to my legs (both calves, both thighs). I have no clue what the next one will be.

Veggie garden pic. It has taken off in a few days of the spring warmer weather!

We’ve got some smoke. Fires are on the other side of Mt Baker, so they’re local as opposed to getting smoke from fires in CA, OR, or Canada.

It’s been like this since Friday.

Top is what it’s like now, bottom is clear.

Ugh. We’ve been getting a little smoke from the CA fires recently, but nothing like that. I hope you get some significant rain soon enough to help.

It’s cleared up a lot today. We haven’t had a lot of smoke this year (compared to last years). I thought we might make it through the season without any major problems. But nope.

This was taken during last year’s summer across the road from our place. Fire in the hills 32kms away. Wasn’t a threat to where we live but still, you can’t help worry about how bad it might get.

It’s going pretty good on my end. I bought a house last October and so far it’s been a money pit but it’s much better than the area I lived in before.

Hahahaha, my tired old eyes read that as”the sun only shites”.
Which is appropo in the U.K. Yes, this past summer was unusually hot and sunny. But it’s only September and already growing cold.

Currently trying to find more copies of the Grit cookbook to send to folk now that its closing next week. Unsuccessful so far.

It’s closing? Aw. I never got to eat there. But I do have the cookbook.

Struggling with anxieties currently. Got a bit of debt, bills are going up and it looks as though our interest rates are going to rise so mortgage payments will go up. Already do two jobs. God knows where its going to come from.
