From last year.
Remembering Levon Helm. Born on this day in 1940, he passed away at the age of 71 in 2012. This is a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Tennessee Jed” that appeared on his Electric Dirt in 2009, the same year this aired.
Weird! I listened to a live Crowded House version of this about 10 minutes ago! Great song.
Released as a single from Elvis Costello’s debut album, My Aim Is True in May 1977. The b-side was “Welcome To the Working Week.”
Yeah weird! I had to listen the song last night. It’s comforting. Great camp fire song.
Remembering Gregg Allman. Mirrored from R.E.M. HQ & Jambase

I have this record.
As do I. Someone gave me a copy a few years ago which is one of the re-releases that includes some bonus tracks.
On this day in 1971, “Walk Away” was released as the first single from the third album by the James Gang, appropriately titled Thirds.
This was when Annie Lennox performed at the Grammys with the Eurythmics looking like an Elvis pirate. I’ll never forget it.

Remembering Jeff Walls who passed away on this day in 2019 at the age of 62. I never did have the good fortune to see Guadalcanal Diary share a bill with R.E.M. but I do feel fortunate to have seen them do a free outdoor show at Duke University in Durham, NC in the Spring of 1989 just a week or so before I saw R.E.M. at the Dean Dome in nearby Chapel Hill.
This was recommended to me by my 28yo daughter. Early video of Perth based band Pond & the close association with Tame Impala. T.I. Kevin Parker takes the drums here & Nick Allbrook the vocals. I love Allbrook’s stage presence & great to see young ones have so much fun.
Superwolves…
Amazing venue. From what I can tell it’s a cave! Maybe there are some Texas natives on here who can tell a little more about it.
Mark Knopfler performing Romeo and Juliet (possibly my favorite song ever) for BBC Radio 2 a few years ago.
Not live but a friend turned me onto this cover of “Romeo and Juliet” by Widowspeak a while back. The original by Dire Straits is also one of my all time favorites, as is Making Movies in general.
