Yes I saw it red undies and all I had to google Troye Sivan, honestly I had no idea who he was.
Same here.
DriverNate & Lori you are cool. Love Alvvays and Boygenius. DriveNate I think you helped me get into Ryan Adams back in the day via Murmurs (without wanting to go into the later issues).
Do you like Slow Pulp?
Love Slow Pulp. I thought I had posted about them here. I was led to them via Alvvays. In turn, Slow Pulp has led me to Babehoven who opened some shows for them recently. The night I saw them Slow Pulp were dressed as characters from Scooby Doo and Babehoven were Luigi from Super Mario Brothers. This is from their new album which will be out sometime next year.
I became familiar with the Alvvays & Boygenius from visiting this site. I probably would not have heard of them otherwise. People like DriverNate, inspectorjason and others post some really good music here.
I heard Shane MacGowan of The Pogues passed away recently. I’m not very familiar with The Pogues besides a couple of songs. Watched this video tonight. R.I.P. Shane MacGown.
The Futurebirds with Mike Mills & Carl Broemel at the Georgia Theatre, 5th December/23
The next song sounded good too, don’t know what it was, video goes black at the end unfortunately.
“Don’t Go Back To Rockville”
Love Slow Pulp!!
As do I. Alvvays led me to them and in turn, Slow Pulp led me to Babehoven who I saw open for them in October. I can’t wait for their new album next year. This is the first taste of it.
(Feeling nostalgic) The first R.E.M. Christmas single I received when I joined the fanclub after the release of Up & remains my favorite. I believe this was recorded in Oct. 1998, included a great live version of “Country Feedback” which I think I have already posted here, also recorded from The Bridge School Benefit concert, Shoreline Amphitheatre CA.
Neil Young/R.E.M. “Ämbulance Blues”
Y’all have probably heard me mention Sweeping Promises a lot. Their Atlanta show a few months ago was for the ages. If you like Pylon, then this will be up your alley…
Last week I watched Peter Jackson’s Get Back documentary covering the Beatles’ preparation for what became the rooftop concert.
In honor of the birthdays today of Jimmy Page (80) and Joan Baez (83) I bring you Led Zeppelin’s version of Anne Bredon’s “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You” that Page was inspired to cover based on Joan Baez’ version. Of course, Zeppelin in turn, put their own stamp on it. The only time I’ve heard it performed live was by Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters at Koka Booth in Cary, NC several years ago. Usually, when it comes to songs that were part of Zeppelin’s repertoire, Plant puts his own spin on them as well but in this case, he remained true to Zeppelin’s arrangement of the song. This is a live version from Danish television in Copenhagen from 1969. Happy Birthday, Jimmy and Joan.
