You seem so sad...why not smile

I don’t know, too hard? maybe it started getting monotonous & boring. I try hard not to repeat a lyric that’s come up before. It takes me some thinking. Some lyrics are so memorable they stay with you, one can’t help repeat.

Saturday night’s already old
Walking into Sunday, and I find
All desires are cold
I could walk forever, I don’t mind
Show me a light, your company
Goes a little way to help me see
The path on which I’m bound
Rather than the things I leave behind

Sunday Mornin’
Praise the Dawnin’
It’s just a restless feeling
By my side
early Dawnin’
Sunday Mornin’
It’s just the wasted years so close behind
Watch Out!
The World’s Behind You!
There’s always someone around you who will call
It’s nothing at all…

I remember what you told me before you went out on your own
Sometimes to keep it together, we got to leave it alone
So you can get on with your search, baby
And I can get on with mine
And maybe someday we will find
That it wasn’t really wasted time

We were just
Wasting time
Let the hours roll by
Doing nothing for the fun
Little taste of the good life
Makes us want to stay stay stay stay for awhile

(Dave Matthews Band)

Yours was a kiss that awoke my heart
There lingers still, though we’re far apart
That taste of honey
Tasting much sweeter than wine

  • The Beatles ( Bobby Scott / Rick Marlow)

Today while the blossoms still cling to the vine
I’ll taste your strawberries, I’ll drink your sweet wine
A million tomorrows shall all pass away
Ere I forget all the joys that are mine today

(the New Christy Minstrels)

Strawberries, cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring
My summer wine is really made from all these things
Take off your silver spurs and help me pass the time
And I will give to you summer wine

Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love, oh bittersweet
The green on the vine like strawberry wine

(Matraca Berg/Deana Carter)

I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear-skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth

Brenda and Eddie were still going steady in the summer of '75
When they decided the marriage would be at the end of July
Everyone said they were crazy
“Brenda, you know that you’re much too lazy
And Eddie could never afford to live that kind of life”
Oh, but there we were, waving Brenda and Eddie goodbye

(Billy Joel)

Just when I think I’m over her
This broken heart will mend
I hear her name, and I have to cry
The tears come down again
It happens all the time
This crazy love of mine
Wraps around my heart
Refusing to unwind
Oh, crazy love

Even when everybody tells me
I’m just being a fool
Something inside says I’ve gotta have you
And I can’t play by the rules

Oh baby baby
Tell me there’s a chance for me
Because I’m crazy about you
I know this is love for me

Just crazy love, just crazy love

(Fleetwood Mac (Christine McVie))

He came from somewhere back in her long ago
The sentimental fool don’t see
Trying hard to recreate
What had yet to be created, once in her life
She musters a smile
For his nostalgic tale
Never coming near what he wanted to say
Only to realize
It never really was

Yes, and all of the things that I said that I wanted
Come rushing by in my head when I’m with you
Fourteen joys and a will to be merry
All of the things that they say are very

Sentimental gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental lady, gentle one

(Fleetwood Mac (Bob Welch))

(finally got a non-Buckingham/Nicks/McVie FM song in!)

While some marching band keeps its own beat in my head
While we’re talking
About all of the things that I long to believe
About love, the truth and what you mean to me

Helter skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast
Now, the halftime air was sweet perfume
While sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
Because the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?

(Don McLean)

Eight miles high, and when you touch down
You’ll find that it’s stranger than known
Signs in the street, that say where you’re going
Are somewhere just being their own
