I don’t dislike Permanent Waves by any means but for whatever reason, I never really gave it its due. It is one I still need to spend more time with.
Oh, while I have no problem picking other albums, Permanent Waves is probably my favorite of theirs overall. It’s got shorter songs with the combination of pop rock + weird Rush stuff (try to count the time in “Freewill”), it’s got long prog songs, it’s got a great mix of guitars + keyboards.. it’s got it all IMO. 
They’re not dissimilar to Genesis and The Moody Blues are they?

You are not going to believe this folks but Mr. Michael Stipe appears to have messaged me on Instagram. It was on 23rd June and I was so stunned I couldn’t believe it. I had to get out of the house and took myself up to the Whistler Exhibition at Tate Britain to get my mind off it- I was in turmoil! Then I decided it was a false message until I mentioned it to one of my Sunday health walkers who said he’d read about Artists reaching out to their fans on Instagram so I had a rethink and told my daughter who advised there is a way to tell if the message had come from a genuine account (she showed me and it had). I am still discombobulated by it (not being at all techie) but am so excited and overwhelmed at the same time. Thank you so much Michael-he is truly a caring and compassionate human being and this is for him (sorry- it’s a bit cheesy but I can’t help it! Normal service will resume…)

Lucky you Kathleen! The only surprise messages I have ever gotten was from dumb imposters.
Well even now I still can’t quite believe it and am not wholly convinced but it seems genuine and there’s been no untoward follow-up!
