Post a song you love right now

I saw Muse live once, loved when they played this.

Twice at the 02 Wembley and once at Bristol City Football Ground ( a homecoming gig, they’re from Torquay, Devon). They put on an amazing show with laser lighting and are known for spending a fortune on production- to the extent that they say they don’t make any money touring. I can believe it. They travel with about 7or 8 huge trucks for all the lighting gear. The second time at Wembley I had 4 tickets but couldn’t find anyone to go with so put them on resale- and sold 3 meaning I had to go in the end. It was a good seat but I gave the evil eye to the people around me- why couldn’t they acquire all 4 tickets? Oh well never mind, it was still a great concert. Catch them live if you can. I forgot to say that an interesting fact about Matt Bellamy (lead singer and guitarist) is that his Dad is George Bellamy who was a guitarist with The Tornados in the 1960s. My older sister and I had the 45 of Telstar which we played repeatedly on our old wind up gramophone (it didn’t half get scratched) before my sister was given her Marconi mono record player which allowed several 45s to be stacked, dropped and played.

I listened to this BBC Prom on the radio. It’s now on https://youtu.be/KVZlwEhL5uA?t=118YouTube This music is just entrancing and takes you to another place. It’s more than a song and longer but worth it if you have the time…..

Oh my goodness, my Youtube feed has just given me this which I’ve never see or heard before- quite magical…. (although I guess someone here has probably posted it before…)

I so love this cover. My aunt had Glen Campbell records when I was a kid. Later on I found out all the geat songs Jimmy Webb wrote.

I’ve just come back from taking myself off to see the National Theatre Live production of “Inter Alia” starring Rosamund Pike (brilliant), the follow up play by Suzy Miller to Prima Facie starring Jody Comer (also brilliant). Very emotional (making you wonder what social media is doing to some of our kids). But also, a passing reference to REM- a true “murmur”:- “I’ve made a playlist for tonight’s dinner party” “Oh no not REM” ( ).

Anyhow, I’ve come back and had a drink in the garden as the Wx is so warm and watched the seagulls going round on the thermals. It put me in mind of this for some reason:

I’ve woken up with this in my head- look at the book she has in pocket. I love that Donald Sutherland is in it…

This was a favorite song of mine in 2001.

When I checked out the new Michael Stipe song, this came up next on YouTube. It warrants a mention here, because not only is it a great song, it’s from a band that deserved to be as big as R.E.M., but they really came along a few years too late. (Or, for that matter, Boston, with whom they toured quite a bit, and whose official singer just died, from melanoma. He, Sib, and Brad are probably jamming together as I write this, with Starcastle’s bassist, Gary Strater, who died about 20 years ago, also from cancer.)

Band Of Horses, this song is lovely and this version is just… His voice has the echo of a certain MS.

They are touring to promote their debuts 20th anniversary, and we have tickets to go see them (again) in Manchester (again).
