Who Wrote What - Murmur

Radio Free Europe -
Pilgrimage -
Laughing -
Talk About the Passion -
Moral Kiosk -
Perfect Circle - Berry
Catapult -
Sitting Still -
9-9 -
Shaking Through -
We Walk -
West of the Fields -

I suspect a few of these may have Mills origins due to the bass influence.

I’ve enjoyed these threads. The thing that strikes me (and this is based on our speculation) is that the writing was more collaborative early on. I feel like the early albums were 3/4 guys in a room, working on ideas. Later on, as they became more proficient, they’d each bring fairly complete compositions in for Stipe to work on.

Seems like I was wrong about RFE - according to Mills - it was mostly him…

I was listening to Radio Free Europe the other day and wondered the same thing…the verses are driven by the bass.

Just guesses, no doubt wong.

9-9 is bass led, so I’ll take a punt on Mills.

We Walk - Sounds like Buck to my ears

My replies never go where they belong. This post was a reply to the one above it

Yes I am hitting the arrow…

He made a couple of minor corrections on twitter.

“A couple of minor misquotes—the guitar in which I wrote RFE was unplugged, not plugged in. And the early Athens folks were a community, not a committee. But indeed minor stuff.”
