Sorry if I posted something similar to this years ago…
On Friday Oct 10 I will have the opportunity to stop in Athens, GA for the day (I live in SW Ohio).
In the late 80s and through the 90s, I DREAMED about going to Athens and showing up on the doorstep of Bill, Peter, Mike, or Michael’s house and hanging out with them! Going to Tyrones, the old church, the R.E.M. Offices and recording studio, the murmur trestle, etc!
But now, is there really ANYTHING to see or do R.E.M. related there?? Or just major disappointment?
Not like I’m going to see the band wandering around town or get a private tour of the vault or anything…
I know a couple GREAT breweries are there (Terrapin and Creature Comforts). So it may just be worth that.
I kind of like all the romanticism that’s in my head about Athens and I hate to ruin it…
