I’m sure this is old news for many but I just learned of it a day or so ago. I gather it’s for real this time since he’s 70 and has been at it for nearly 40 years. I’m glad I got to eat there a few times (including a gathering of members of this message board) and also had the pleasure of meeting Dexter Weaver.

Awwww that’s so sad. I’ve been wanting to go for years. It’s one of the few R.E.M. related sites to visit in Athens that I hoped would still be fully up and running by the time I get to roll around. Good for Dexter though!

Michael Shannon mentioned this at the show Friday night. Said it was because Athens was becoming over developed, and that Weaver Ds was going to make way for more student housing (I couldn’t help think “don’t pull on that line of thinking too hard or you will end up saying something you regret…”). I’m glad I got to see it a few years ago.
