Two of three bonus tracks (all of which are covers) from the upcoming reissue of Frazey Ford’s Indian Ocean which turned 10 last year. It’s due September 19th. More info here from Americana UK.

From Mavis Staples’ new album Sad and Beautiful World which is out November 7th. She’s backed by lots of my favorite artists on this one. I can’t wait to hear it. More on it from Stereogum here.

The latest from Wednesday’s new record Bleeds which is due September 19th. Aside from a few songs I have to admit I’m not especially taken with them but I keep listening. My favorite so far is “Elderberry Wine” from the new album.

Title track from the Beths new album Straight Line Was A Lie which is out on Friday.

I have not found Tik Tok to be good for much which is indicative of so much of social media but several mentions of this band have finally prompted me to check them out. I’m presently dealing with one of my more debilitating bouts of depression and this is helping. It’s from their new album that just came out.

This is great- really uplifting, thanks. I have “Save Your Soul” by Kathleen Edwards (posted by someone else- oops I forget who at the moment) on my 2025 phone playlist which I’m playing a lot at the moment- helping me deal with current world and personal events. I’ll add this one thank you :guitar: :musical_score:

This is also uplifting (no, I haven’t got religion but this is a hymn we sang in infant school and I remember all the words- a beautiful poem by Eleanor Farjeon- similar to “Daises are our silver, buttercups our gold” and “All Things Bright and Beautiful”)-

“Glad that I live am I

That the sky is blue

Glad for the country lanes

And the fall of dew

All that we need to do be we low or high

Is to see that we grow

Nearer the sky”

Anyway, it has been set to music by Rick Wakeman (who interestingly was born in the same maternity hospital as me and grew up near me). I mean, I wonder what Bowie’s “Life on Mars” would be without his piano part?

Started listening to this today. It’s good! I haven’t listened to the Beths much before.

It would have been great to see Willie Nelson in concert….but sadly haven’t been to the USA since 2000 (when I took my Mum to see her old GI boyfriend- both now passed on - within 2 weeks of each other in 2006). Highly unlikely to be going this year. Oh well…..
