Science, Tech and geeky stuff

Last night’s lunar eclipse was captured by Firefly’s Blue Ghost lander on the moon (so technically a solar eclipse from there):

It looks like a jewel from the moon. I like the caption for the pic, “Put a ring on it!” I instantly thought of the Beyonce song lol. Last time I saw a total moon eclipse it looked like a orange basketball suspended in space. I took some pics. (from earth)

Here you go, you can get fat and lazy on a couch all day while it serves you, or go for a jog while it does your chores.

OMG that’s really creepy! It looks like a Star Wars clone and what if it turned on me like in I Robot?? I don’t think either of my 2 toy lightsabres would save me! Plus we have enough trouble with NEETS out of work- people need jobs!

Creeps the hell out of me to. I would be, lazing by the pool “F3, get me a coconut water with a dash of Bacardi” while my arse gets fatter. “F3, clean up my mess while I go out” Either way, it would make me a lazy slob. Apparently they are going to mass produce them, around $20,000. each.

So it seems that the first people to lose their jobs to robots could be catwalk models- so they’ll be the ones who end up as lazy slobs with fat arses!

That would be sacrilege! On the other hand, one would not have to pay for butt implants to gain a nice big booty. All natural, and that may put plastic surgeons out of a job.

During the week I visited the Museum of Discovery in the city. The title was “Beginings” My favourite interactive exhibit was The Beast. It had controls to play with, the aim was to retain a balance to keep a living system healthy. It would tell you on a screen if it was feeling sick, & you have to figure out what controls you need to move, it was gas, growth, food & some, to make The Beast feel healthy, and then it would say something like, “The Beast feels elated!”

Outside with my son tonight, we took some pics of the Moon & Venus conjunction in the west. My phone camera didn’t do the beauty justice. My son had a much better camera.

We were talking about the advent of robots etc and the fact that young people are finding it hard to find employment and this cartoon appeared in Private Eye this week:

I found it hilarious when I saw this on the News this week (especially the robots running into the plastic mattress at the end and then getting stretchered off!) but honestly do we not as humans have more important things to direct our resources to? Maybe I’m too old for all this… it’s all a bit too I, Robot for me…

I don’t know if it will lead us humans into a good path or not, so it disturbs me.

Pluses and minuses I guess

Not so much science & tech, more geeky stuff I guess but I haven’t told you that I have R.E.M. lined up in my spare bedroom…

So that’s Mike, the big soft elephant, Peter is the big brown bear, Michael is the rainbow T Rex and that’s Bill the black monkey saying something to Michael to make him laugh  They’re all Charity Shop rescues!

Sweet! I read - “R.E.M.’s plastic dinosaurs, known as Left and Right were a pair of identical toy figures that guitar player Peter Buck bought at a Salvation Army thrift store”
I’m not sure what kind of dinosaurs those two were.

Would the T-Rex be the most famous dinosaur? I like the Triceratops whith the big sheild and horns.

Well it’s the biggest and most ferocious I think and features strongly in Jurassic Park etc. I think Michael must have been a T.Rex fan as he mentions practising his T.Rex moves in Wake-Up Bomb. To my Mum’s horror, Marc Bolan was my first pin up- Jackie Magazine posters all over my box room. He was followed by David Bowie ( I was a fan club member in 1974) but not much of an improvement according to my Mum! My daughter’s favourite is Triceratops- I have a photo of her the Natural History Museum dinosaur exhibition with it (she was 4 so that’s 28 years ago now!) Brontosaurus for me- a nice gentle giant of a plant eating dinosaur :sauropod:
