Got tickets for this. I saw the Radiohead one last year and it was great.

This came to a theater near me last year but I missed out. Sounds really cool, hope others get to see it.

Went to see this last night with my partner. Between us, we were half of the total audience…

I really enjoyed it. I saw the Radiohead one last year and found the movie (Nosferatu) quite creepy, which I suppose it is. This was a much easier watch.

Sherlock Jr is only about 45 minutes long, so there was an opening feature, The Baloonatic. It had a techno soundtrack. It was ok.

Then came the main feature. Spoilers ahead, if you don’t want to know what R.E.M. songs were used.

I liked the movie a lot. Some genuinely funny moments, some very clever humour, and it stood up quite well. As I say, I found Nosferatu quite a challenge. But this was fun. The songs used were, in as close to order as I can remember: How the West Was Won and Where It Got Us, Wake Up Bomb, Undertow, I Don’t Sleep I Dream, Star 69, Leave, Crush With Eyeliner, King of Comedy, Revolution (Monster 25 demo version), Stand, and Pop Song 89.

I could quibble with the song choices a little. Two amazing albums, with the worst song on each (imo) used (Wake Up Bomb and Star 69). Then a couple of songs from Green tacked on the end. Lots of great songs that I think would’ve worked well were left out. But hey, music is subjective. It was great hearing my favourite band, loudly, in a cinema.

A review from the Guardian. They didn’t like it quite as much as me…
