R.E.M. Members Working With Producer Mitch Easter For First Time In 30+ Years (Spin)

Jim Bouton wrote the first big tell-all about baseball, which made him a persona non grata. There are some slang terms in the song if I recall that we’re very controversial at the time.

Reminder that the Baseball Project is touring next month: The Baseball Project on tour

Would love them to come to the UK, but don’t think it’s likely!

Uk tour would be cool. Ordered the vinyl of this hopefully arriving Monday. Sounds like REM from another dimension to me. Love it.

Looking forward to their tour kickoff in Birmingham. And wondering if Bill might be at the Athens show. And whether I should take more time off from work, drive to Athens, and catch that one, too.

Been listening to the new album, very fun indeed.

My copy came yesterday and it is great. Very reminiscent of mid period REM in places, in particular some bits of Out Of Time. Love it.

I never associated not liking disco with racism or homophobia either. I actually thought disco music hijacked a lot of the ‘70s R&B music that I loved. The disco “scene” in my HS was mainly the richer or show-off kids who would go to the all-ages clubs. My friends and I were more into the rock & roll and just hanging out with each other and talking about the music we were listening to.

I moved to Chicago in the mid-80s. I heard of the Disco Demolition when it happened in ‘79, but when I moved to Chicago, everyone would still be talking about it around the anniversary. Steve & Garry were still on the air back then, and we listened to them every day at work. I still listen to Garry Meier’s podcast and sent him a link to the video.
