Hi folks. I’m just popping in to let you know what I’ve already shared over at REMTimeline: I’ve posted a good handful of newly-sourced R.E.M. soundboard recordings from in/around Athens, GA at my blog (link below). These lossless recordings were made available by the great T. Patton Biddle (Pat the Wiz), sound tech at the 40 Watt in the 1980s. He recorded & shared some of the best-known early soundboard recordings, including several full-length Tyrone’s shows. Pat was very kind to share with me digital transfers from his analog safety tapes, which are first-generation dubs from his master reels. There’s one full-length 1981 Tyrone’s show that’s an upgrade to what’s circulated before, a previously unreleased 1981 opening set when R.E.M. warmed up for XTC, and four R.E.M. opening sets (several are surprise appearances) at the 40 Watt from 1987 and 1988 – all soundboard recordings.
If interested, they’re all here in FLAC as well as high-quality MP3. No tricks, no advertisements, etc.; I’m just sharing with fellow R.E.M. fans.
Cheers,
Rob-in-Brevard
