One of my favourite King Creosote songs…
Love Last Waltz. So many great moments. Neil Young, Emmylou… but this is my favourite:
The one-two punch of Exit Music/Let Down on OK Computer is one of my favourite moments on an album, ever.
Always loved this version of No Surprises:
One of Radioheads (well Jonny and Thom) greatest performances…
Classic song! Yes I love that album too.
World Party - “Ship Of Fools” 2012. Yes, save me from tomorrow.

I have Dixie Chicken and The Last Record Album. Lowell George was a great singer. I love his voice.
I’m a pretty big fan. I don’t have all of their albums but I do have most of them. I never had the good fortune to see them with Lowell but did see an early version of the reunited band with Craig Fuller (Pure Prairie League) opening for the Allman Brothers Band in the early 90’s. I enjoyed them but to me it’s not and never will be the same without Lowell. I’m sure you’re already aware of it but I highly recommend Waiting For Columbus. It’s going to be re-released in a new expanded edition later this summer. That may be more than what you’re interested in. If so, I recommend the most recent expanded edition (2 CD’s). When it was first released on a single CD they had to leave off a song or two due to space limitations.
Thank you Jonathon, I always appreciate your recommendations.
I’ve aways liked this version by Linda Ronstadt backed by Little Feat from the tribute to Lowell George that took place not long after he passed that appears on Hoy! Hoy!
In honor of International Reggae Day which I didn’t realize was a thing. I first learned of these guys when they appeared on a 1983 compilation called Knotty Vision.
I liked & listened to a lot of ska music in the '80s.
The English Beat - Ranking Full Stop/Mirror in the Bathroom"" - 1980
I had been aware of reggae for quite some time but it wasn’t until 1980 when my oldest brother played the Bob Marley and the Wailers albums Survival and Uprising on repeat that I got bitten by the bug. The same thing happened with my other three brothers. Shortly thereafter I started picking up albums. In 1982 when I started in college radio I was exposed to some of the two-tone bands. Around 1984 I created Roots Rock Reggae which continued to air on our college station even after I’d graduated. Somewhere in there I had a chance to see Peter Tosh when he came to Page Auditorium in Durham but at the last minute my parents asked me to stay at home to look after my grandmother. In more recent years I’ve started to dig deep into rocksteady which may well be my favorite subset of reggae. I’ve also picked up all of the English Beat’s albums. They play in my area at least once or twice a year but I’m not sure if I have any interest in seeing them without Ranking Roger.
I’m familiar with Bob Marley and the Wailers & Peter Tosh. I mostly listened to The Specials, The Beat & Madness. Collected a few records. I love the graphics of the 2 Tone Label.
I wanted to hear this R.E.M. song today the 4th July.
Happy Independence Day America.
“Try Not To Breath”
If you ever find yourself wanting to dig deeper this is an excellent compilation but is out of print. Even so, it still shouldn’t be all that difficult to find. There are also lots of other compilations out there on the Trojan and Soul Jazz labels just for starters.
Thanks, I’ll look out for it. x
