For some reason the video wasn’t available on PBS org. I did find it on youtube. though
I was vaguely familiar with the Velvet Underground. I only began to appreciate who they were from the old murmurs.com site, & interviews like this with Patti Smith & also R.E.M. talking about them. I purchased a box set of Cd’s “Peel Slowly and See” , a whole new world of music was opened up to me.
I just love Patti so much, and I actually discovered the VU through REM’s Dead Letter Office when I was in high school, kind of around the same time I got into Patti. I remember buying Lou’s Magic and Loss and really getting into Wim Wenders films all around the same time, kind of forming my musical tastes.
Patti was actually one of my last pre-pandemic concerts, in Detroit (well, Royal Oak) in September of 2019 - I think I still have the dried rose she handed out.
