Indie band Superchunk has just released (Feb 25) their new album, Wild Loneliness, and the first single from it, “On the floor”, comes with backing vocals courtesy of one Mr. Mike Mills. I’ve just listened to this song. His voice is quite distinctive there.
According to the usual sources, Superchunk’s frontman Mac McCaughan got Nothing Painted Blue’s frontman Franklin Bruno to play piano on the track because it reminded him of R.E.M.'s Reckoning , and then that led him to reach out to Mills.
