New Michael Stipe song

I’ve just about given up on the fabled solo album, but maybe there is hope!

I’m not counting on that album anymore, but I’m happy to hear him singing again. The song is… interesting, much more conventionally poppy than his previous solo work. Not bad, but he production is a bit too sleek for my taste.

Anything that gets people listening to them is fine by me!

i really dig this song! i’d welcome an album in this vein. that said, the production is atrocious, airless, sterile, way too slick and poppy. and travis barker on drums is terrible :frowning:

Michael mentioned on a recent instgram post Gaelynn Lea will be on his next album. There is still hope of a new record from Michael!

I think that might be in reference to Give Me a Hand, the song he released a couple of years ago for Earth Percent. It’s a beautiful song. But he has mentioned his album a few times recently, so yes, there is hope!

I can’t find a sharable version with Gaelynn Lea (I’ve got it on vinyl and bandcamp), but here’s a live version with Andy LeMaster from a few years ago.

Yes, I know the song, & remember the discussion on here when it was released. :+1:

Stipe still working on the album by the looks of it. Doesn’t sound like anything we’ve heard already.

So, these are songs that may be on the album.

Drive to the Ocean
Future if Future
No Time for Love Like Now
Your Capricious Soul
Give Me a Hand
The Rest of Ever
I Played the Fool (Not sure this will be on it - seems it was written for Rooster, and it’s sonically quite different to the others)

Have I missed any?
