Michael Shannon/Jason Narducy Lifes Rich Pageant Tour

Did anyone have better luck than me with getting tickets for the Athens shows? I was logged into Eventbrite and ready to go this morning and never even had the option to purchase tickets. Super bummed but them’s the breaks I guess.

I’m often super envious of anyone who lives near Athens. But I guess this is the flipside - not always easy to get tickets. I guess even more so now after the last time Shannon and Narducy were in town.

Oh, I don’t live near Athens. I’m a couple of states away, but I echo your sentiment about being jealous of people who do live near there.

Being from a western state… I guess “near” is a relative term :slightly_smiling_face: I am jealous of people who live a couple states away!

Nice interview with Shannon and Narducy. We may get a Document tour next…

Wonderful article, thanks for posting but I do have to wonder how the author has the impression that R.E.M. toured any at all in the 2010s, much less “faithfully.”

I wondered that myself!

Seattle show was a good time. The mix was a bit odd (Narducy’s guitar was mostly missing) but the songs came across well and the crowd was well up for it. They had a lot of fun on stage with Underneath the Bunker The second set had some really fun deep cuts, didn’t expect I’d hear anyone play The Lifting live again at any point. Looking forward to hearing Document next year.

Last night’s show in New Orleans was so much fun. It was great to hear my favorite R.E.M. album performed live. Michael Shannon’s quite talented whether it be as an actor or a musical performer. By the show’s end I was sweaty, hoarse, and sore.

He looks and sounds amazing. That’s a barnstorming version of These Days, and just what I needed this morning. Thanks for posting!

I was right in front of him in the first row!

Last year he ran on stage, sang the song, and ran off again, vs. this time he not only sang two songs but also said some things to the audience, which was super cool.

Apparently, there is some kind of Shannon/Narducy documentary in the works. I really hope that comes to fruition, that’ll be a great watch! They interviewed me for it afterwards since they noticed me having an amazing time in the audience (I’m a pretty energetic audience member, jumping around and such). And from there, guess who negotiated her way backstage and got to meet Michael Stipe??? BEST NIGHT EVER.

In 6 months, I’ve met Michael, Peter, and Mike, all three of whom have given me hugs, and heard Peter play one R.E.M. song and Michael sing two (+Pretty Persuasion a year ago). Plus Mike threw me his pick and Drink The Sea personally gifted me a signed vinyl (again, I’m a good audience member).

Don’t think I’m gonna have a chance with Mr. Berry outside Georgia anytime soon. Still, the R.E.M. section of my bucket list sure has been looking good recently

Since I never got to see an R.E.M. concert (the last one having taken place when I was three years old), it’s been my goal instead to accumulate all the ingredients of an R.E.M. concert as memories in my head, and then the idea is that if I mentally collage all the memories together, I can pretend like I’ve actually seen one. Lol. I know that’s kind of ridiculous, but it’s a fun goal to aspire to.

Ingredients list: Shannon/Narducy concert as the base (check!), and Michael (check!), Peter (check!), Mike, and Bill each playing at least one R.E.M. song.

Author/journalist Annie Zaleski on the current tour. For those unfamiliar with her work you may recognize her name from the liner notes for the 25th anniversary edition of Out of Time. Interesting to learn through this piece that she used to lurk on Murmurs. Within her piece is a link to an R.E.M. essay that I’m going to post elsewhere on the board.
