No family gatherings in years at Christmas. Both my parents are gone. For a few years a close former family member hosted some of us at their house but that’s since fallen by the wayside. My oldest brother also used to have a NYE gathering at his place out of state but after he passed in 2009 that also soon faded away. The last time most of us were all together was in 2018. Trying to organize another one but it’s difficult, if not impossible to get everyone all on the same page. Hopefully, sooner rather than later as none of us are getting any younger. There are also several with serious health issues.

A one stage there were 15 family members that would gather at Christmas, Easter & new year’s day. Now it has dwindled down to 6. Like you said, people pass away or move. I guess, depending on how one sees their world, we can be blessed with waking up to another day.. I’m sure it was Patti Smith that said something like that. Be thankful for another day.
