I first became aware of Don Dixon around 1979 when I heard a song called “Your Sister Told Me” by Arrogance on WQDR, an album rock station out of Raleigh, NC. This station is also the first place I heard R.E.M. in 1983. From what understand, it was the Don Dixon connection that led to R.E.M. receiving airplay on the station. This was during a time when one was more likely to hear them on college radio.
The following year, Arrogance released Suddenly which turned out to be their last studio release. They hung it up shortly thereafter but have played a number of reunion shows over the years but none in recent years, indicating they may be done for good at this point.
