25th Anniversary Series: Next up? REVEAL

sadly another disappointing reissue.

Yeah, I’m a little underwhelmed. I don’t really have the equipment for the surround sound stuff. Live stuff isn’t all that interesting to me, especially when there’s demos from that era kicking around. The wait for a listenable version of Weatherman goes on…

Nevertheless, I fucking love Reveal, and I’m looking forward to reading the guys’ thoughts on it in the liner notes. Definitely the most underrated album in the catalogue, in my opinion. I’ve ordered the bundle without the t-shirt.

Underwhelming, but only a little disappointing after the low effort Up reissue. Seems like they’ve given up or someone from the band has decided that nothing interesting is allowed to be released anymore until further notice. I always wonder who the audience for this live stuff is supposed to be, the only people that care surely have heard the Paris recording already… I think it was one of the most widely circulated bootlegs.

I’m pretty pleased with this release. There doesn’t seem to be that much from the Reveal sessions in terms of unreleased outtakes (other than instrumental tracks) so this live show works for me. It’s a nice complement to the Unplugged set and the live tracks the band released on the 99X and Not Bad For No Tour compilations. Not revelatory but a nice package.

That might be true, but any “normal” reissue would at least add “Fascinating” and probably even some of the already released b-sides. Very strange that they don’t even bother with that.

Being from Argentina I was hoping they released the January 2001 show in Buenos Aires.

Very much agreed. I’m looking forward to it!

r.e.m.IX might have been a nice extra bonus disc
