The Hi-Fi Reissue

Hi Fi is totally in my top 5 I love that album. I bought the remastered vinyl.

My guess is the lack of material on the NAIHF re-release was influenced more by the lack of sales of the original album than anything else. If the market is based upon a percentage of people who purchased the original album, then there’s a lot less potential revenue from NAIHF (and unfortunately Up) than OOT/AFTP/Monster.

From what I understand from someone that was directly involved is that of the previously unreleased material that was available, the members of the band passed on it. I seriously doubt it was because of sales of the original album.

Man this was disappointing. I’d had all of these b-sides for almost as long as the album
always figured since the record is a favorite of the band there’d be a lovingly rendered reissue. Always wanted to hear those sound checks where they put together So Fast etc

You are right though, it sounds great!
Thanks for bring good old Murmurs back, Ethan!

It’s interesting to think of the band passing on sharing some available material; given how freely they’ve shared things in the past, I trust that whatever they decided not to share was with good reason as far as their quality bar is concerned.

This was really disappointing. I thought the band didn’t really care about this release when compared to Monster, Automatic and Out Of Time.

Wish they released this version of E-Bow Thé Letter

I not sure if this has been posted already, it’s pretty recent, March 4, 2022. I love New Adventures in Hi-Fi. I don’t have the reissue yet though, on my wish list.

this song started its life as a NAIHF demo.

I like it. Never heard this one before, intrigue had me look up the back story “Likely the weirdest R.E.M. song”

gotta say, i don’t like her vocals. but the song is so obviously r.e.m. (that bass!) even though it’s not them on the actual recording as far as i know.

HA had it right the first time! I said, I could see it starting as a hi Fi demo. Deleted it cuz I didn’t know who I was replying to :slightly_smiling_face:

Is this the same “Electronic Press Kit” video that was on the blu ray on the New Adventures 25th Anniv?

Any one knows where I can find the complete documentary?

Not sure if this is what you’re referring to.

Thank you.
I think this is part of the same documentary.

I had the full documentary on VHS somewhere. Just don’t have a VHS player.
