So, how's it going: the new batch

Our cat Theo died last night, he was 19.

If there is such a thing as social media fatigue, that’s what has been going on with me for the past view weeks. I keep thinking, if I’m missing out on valuable information & knowledge. Maybe that’s the problem, my head can’t handle all the information at the moment, and then there is sorting if it’s legit, or utter bullshit. I have advanced in detecting imposters, frauds and scammers. I love catching them out, dead in their tracks.

My several months with no social media beyond Tik Tok and BlueSky where I know hardly anyone and rarely posted anything revealed to me that I don’t need it. Easier said than done. It’s already proven it’s detrimental to us on more than one level.
Most people use social media these days to promote their music and happenings so without Meta I felt out of touch in that respect and was but life goes on. I went back to subscribing to mailing lists so I could keep up with music news and live shows.
My social media feeds are teeming with AI generated content, meaning both images and text, all of which are grossly inaccurate. Other posts are meant to enrage us to keep us engaged. The platforms thrive on negativity. I realize all this and have witnessed firsthand the benefits of a minimal amount of social media intake but here I am back on it. Mostly scrolling, doing my best to refrain from responding to the ragebait. I’m still writing pretty regularly but haven’t picked up a book in months, despite knowing that getting lost in a book is much healthier for me.

That will probably be the same for me to. Today we upgraded our copper to the node internet connection to optic fibre. There must be a lot of competition, our telco provider installed it free of charge.
