I'm sorry, but you lose the argument based on that alone.
(For the record, I am surprised that you with your expansive knowledge did not note that the cello plays and is very apparent during almost the entire song, especially the choruses, and that you did not recognise the very common confusion (probably especially with non-musicians or non-English speakers) between a slide guitar and a steel guitar.)

Yep, Peter playing drums on that song has been a regular feature on RH gigs during the last few years, whenever Peter's been around.

I have been on my way to comment on your drumming covers on Facebook, Dave. Really good job on all of them! Especially like that you set up your drums to match Bill's setup at the time, e.g. one tom-tom and two floor toms on Wakeup Bomb. Having learned playing drums at age 14 or something, to Monster and other REM stuff, I've always found it interesting to try to match the exact patterns etc when playing along to REM songs. You're doing a great job on that!
