The usual trite questions but then Breakfast is for a very wide audience. The most important thing of course was the news of going into the studio next month.
I thought Bill Turnbull seemed to be a genuine fan :D

Youtube does not allow larger than 100Mb files, but as I'm also not sure as to how they deal with TV stuff?
Yousendit does not allow >100Mb files also, otherwise I'd have it on yousendit already...
Patience my friends, while the old pC converts it!

There's quite a large pic of stipe in the sun newspaper today, with Gwyneth Paltrow. I think Frances posted the link in the people section - they just say he forgot to go to BBC Breakfast yesterday!

My friend just texted me to say Michael is in the Daily Star newspaper today also. I haven't seen it myself yet though.

Nice photo of him. Check out those sneakers. It's funny how it says the pair were shopping for baby clothes as if she was walking with her good ole hubby Chris. People might talk now. :D

Strange to see Stipe taking credit for "starting the band". He did that during their Charlie Rose interview a few years ago and Peter quickly corrected him.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

The Daily Star newspaper today has a different pic of Gwyneth and Michael and mentions that she is apparently directing the next video for Coldplay and was asking Michael for advice.
Here is another website mention about the BBC Breakfast appearance:

There's also a new report from London from bertis/michael up on HQ.

They said earlier he would come on after 9am. But then 8:50am they started the interview. Misleading:(
Bloody BBC. Does it not occur to them that some of their viewers might go to work and therefore need to record it?? At about 7.30 it said "coming up at 9.00", so I set the dvd recorder to record from 8.55 to 9.15 and got about the last minute. Hurrah for the link on the BBC website, although the quality on my media player is bollocks - still, better than nothing.

Michael looked great, but yes, he did look a bit tired.
I didn't think Bill seemed to be a genuine fan because he didn't even know how long the band had been together and he asked if they were touring with the I.R.S. years album, if he was a genuine fan he'd have known that they're not touring!
I thought the music playing in the background was a bit rude and off putting aswell!
I got the impression from Michael's response to being asked if he seen them still together in 26 years time, that they wouldn't be, I've been fighting back tears all day:( , I'll miss them so much if they no longer exist as R.E.M.
"I'd wrestle you for a spoon inside your sleeping bag" anyday Michael:p

The yousendit link earlier in this thread brings you to a bit better quality file...

But, in 26 years time, Peter would be 75...while it may be possible to still be together in 26 years, realistically I just can't see it...

Yeh, but hey, they'll still be great! I'm only kidding, I'm just being selfish, I just hope they continue a bit longer than a couple of years, but I do understand that they're getting older and have other interests in their lives, it's only because I know how much I'll miss them when they no longer exist as R.E.M.:(
