'Rattlesnake', 'Insomnia & the Hole in the Universe' and 'Pillar of Davidson' all songs by Live sound very much like REM to me, especially Ed Kowalcyk's vocals.
I would also agree with an earlier post that Live's 'Selling the Drama' is another that has an REM sound to it.

I think Guided By Voices has some REM-like material. Look for songs like Cheyenne from Universal Truths And Cylcles and or Where I Come From from Suitcase.

totally. or listen to "us mustard company" off of robert pollard's from a compound eye and especially "death of the party" off of his keene brothers album. he does r.e.m. better than r.e.m. does these days

fiel a la vega, a local band, made a very r.e.m.- like song called "al frente" about seven years ago.

Counting Crows, Gin Blossoms, and others. I've got a song "Yellow Mountains" where I played mandolin and the radio station DJ told me it sounded like R.E.M. I bit my lip, laughed inside and thought "if he only knew". www.myspace.com/craigfranklinmusic I hope you like it. There are some other ones I have that might work as well.

Idlewild are obviously massively influenced by REM. Every time I hear them, especially the singer Roddy and plenty of guitar parts, it always reminds me of REM. Like this one, it's heavier than anything REM have ever done but you just hear Michael in his voice.

Definitely agree with you!

Nothing sounds like R.E.M. otherwise I'd be listening to them. Heck even R.E.M. don't really sound like R.E.M. with each new album.
