Wow, I hardly ever hear of anyone who knows of Steeleye Span. I first heard/saw them open for Jethro Tull in 1973 or so. I was in 5th row center, I think partially because I was in a full length cast on my left leg and people felt bad for me. Anyway, they came out and started with an acapella song that got a standing ovation. They played for an hour or so, and even got called out for an encore after that. You don't see that often for an opening band. Then Jethro Tull came out and played for another 3 hours or so. All for $5. Those were the days.

Anyway, I ramble. I immediately went out and bought Parcel of Rouges after that which is still a favorite album of mine. It's good to find someone else who has heard them.

I love Steeleye Span, too. So does my hubby. This thread is old. My least favorite thing about myself is no longer my figure. :)
Now it's probably my allergy prone skin. My legs and feet get pretty scratched up. Also, my nails are crap.

I do like Steeleye Span, saw them on their Christmas 2006 tour when they came to Reading and enjoyed them. Introduced me to folk rock, now a big love of mine :)

Hmmm, I seem to be the most prolific breeder on the board. So many people react with horror to the question-  "Kids?"
It seems to elicit the  reponse you might expect if the topic was "The plague?"
Kids are great. OK, toddlers are challenging and teenagers can turn your hair white, but I can't imagine my life without my brood and I know my hubby couldn't either. They enrich my life every day. Is 5 excessive? Ummmm. No. They are all amazing in so many ways.

I think 5 is excellent.  I am from a family of 5 kids.  My brother has 5 kids.  I don't have any but I guess that is the way the cookie crumbles.  I have 11  nieces and nephews though so there are plenty to go around.

It's sort of a time of life thing... I knew lots of people in my twenties that had that horrified response to kids, but most of them have kids now.   I was sort of like that as a teenager, but I have two kids and would actually like another, although at my age who knows if it will happen.  Things would get crowded if everyone had five kids though, so it's great that some of that diversity of opinion persists.

It's a funny thing, and I think our feelings depend very much on our own upbringing. I'm also one of 5, and have had very difficult relationships with two of my siblings. The 2 I was closest to are now dead. I have 2, much loved children and totally agree with you on how they enrich our life. I think I possibly only had 2 in the hope that they would be good friends, with only each other. If the 5 of us had all been close, think I'd have been tempted to have more. Mind you, my husband already has 3, plus 2 step children from a previous marriage so maybe enough's enough!!

Oh I wasn't suggesting that everyone had 5 kids. I wasn't even suggesting that everybody have even one. It was more my bafflement at  a lot of respondents here to the kids question. So many of them were overwhelmingly negative like "Ewwwww!"  and "Hell no"  and "oh, the horror"and "are you fucking crazy? I'd rather stick pins in my eyes".
Looked like people were equating raising children with some terrible catastrophe. I am bewildered by that.

Haha really? I will have to read through them! I think we are a very child unfriendly society, judging by a recent lunch with friends who had 3 kids between them. We got the feeling the restaurant couldn't wait to get rid of us. I could understand this if the kids were being awful, but they were just playing happily in a corner. And 2 of them were only one!
