I was browsing in the record store on campus here, and I saw there was an old R.E.M. VHS titled "Time Piece".  Does anyone know anything about this?  I thought about buying it, but was shocked to find that it cost $28!!

It was a promotional film put together by WB for the release of Out of Time. It's now available as part of the repackaged version of Out of Time.

"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

At $126 a pop for some of the seats I'm gonna pass. Plus, the closest date he has to me is on a Sunday clear on the other side of the state so that pretty much rules out attending even the tix were more reasonably priced.

Not sure if you've heard but word is he's dropping the horn section and the dancers may be next. Personally I'm glad to hear he's scaling back. His show has become more and more like a bad Vegas revue in recent years so the cutbacks can only help matters.

Hm...  I think some songs would sound better without the horns and stuff, but most of the time I like it.  Although, it was cool when they kicked off the License To Chill shows with Jimmy and Mac playing CILCIA together.

$28 sounds pretty reasonable.  I paid at least $40 for it.  Then, of course, I got the Out of Time reissue.  So now the VHS just sits on the shelf.  But it's a nice collector item!

Unless he lowers ticket prices my last Buffett concert will continue to be the one I saw in the mid-90s and I'm actually quite content with that.

Actually, his ticket prices are lower for this tour.  The GA tickets cost $35.  Which tour did you see him on?  I have a t-shirt my dad's secretary gave me from a Beach House On The Moon show.  The thing I like about him is that he hits the road even when he doesn't have anything to promote.  I also like how he plays the older, more obscure stuff.  Last show I was at, he played Woman Goin' Crazy On Caroline Street, Stars On The Water, and Ragtop Day.

The lawn seats may be the same as the last few tours (I've been seeing $36 a piece for the most part) but the reserved seats are $126 each which is definitely way more than he's ever charged before.

I've seen Buffett on several tours but the last one I saw was around 10 years ago. I haven't seen him since for many reasons; one being that he rarely plays on weekend nights anymore when he hits NC which makes it next to impossible for me to attend his shows. There's also the task of trying to just get a ticket. Many of  his fans seem only too willing to go through brokers and scalpers but I absolutely refuse to obtain my tickets that way. As for the setlists, occasionally he'll slip in a rarity or two but for the most part his set remains the same night in and night out throughout the tour.
