Ethan - I think you've got a few permissions problems since the upgrade - when uploading torrents, I get the following errors:

Warning: move_uploaded_file(/web/murmurs/www/torrents/uploads/32.torrent): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /web/murmurs/public_html/torrents/torrents-upload.php on line 198
Warning: move_uploaded_file(): Unable to move '/tmp/php0c3Oh1' to '/web/murmurs/www/torrents/uploads/32.torrent' in /web/murmurs/public_html/torrents/torrents-upload.php on line 198
Warning: fopen(/web/murmurs/www/torrents/uploads/32.torrent): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /web/murmurs/public_html/torrents/torrents-upload.php on line 205

Is there now an enforced download/seed ratio in place on the Murmurs tracker? If so could you tell us what it is?

I also uploaded a show yesterday but it was deleted. I don't mind that it was deleted but I am curious as to why.

We still haven't discussed this yet. So far everyone has a good share ratio.:)

I'm looking at the Torrent Management and couldn't find your upload. Not even in the "Banned Torrent" list. Did you get a message that it was banned or deleted?

Well I've definately downloaded stuff and still don't have any stats.  I mean don't get me wrong I'd hate to be denied access to the Murmurs Tracker but basically if I'm downloading and am not being seen by the tracker, how many other people are... I can't believe I'm the only one who has this problem.
I'm not wishing to complain about things...... I'm aware that it seems that I go on and on about this ad nauseum but I'd just like things to be straightened out - I feel a bit like a stealth thief here sometimes:(

I didn't get a message saying that it was banned or deleted.

However, I uploaded the same show onto the Dime tracker last week and yesterday I got a mail saying it had been banned. They found that the last song in the show was released on an obscure compliation album.

when you go to www.murmurs.com/torrents then i think you are logged in there as quiet-cats.

and you download the torrent file and then put it into your bittorrent client on the same computer and start downloading.

can you post a comment there on the tracker to the show you download right now or have downloaded?

for now i have no clue why it doesnt work.

if not: since you are logged in there at the tracker correctly what does your bittorrent client say right now?

aim = aol instant messenger.

at least your profile says an account for it.
it is easier to try some things on there than by trying on the forums.

Is it possible to make torrent comments editable? That would save me from posting another comment right after I already made a comment as I forget to put things in the initial note... and bloody typos can't be corrected now either!

dont comment on the torrent site but on the boards.

ideas about combining those two commenting systems somehow are already made, technical implementation is missing.

I was having problems with the old tracker and kept mum about it as I knew an improved tracker was on the way. However, last night, first time using the new tracker, same problem reared it's ugly head.

I get "Rejected by tracker - Unrecognized host (213.---.---.---.---, please go to http://www........(cannot see the rest, I assume it is murmurs.com)", the exact message I was getting on the old tracker.

I have port forwarding and static IP set-up, so have no issues there. I did a search of Murmurs and found this thread, which seems to indicate that intervention at server level is needed. Thread here.

In addition I have noticed that if I am working at my computer I never have issues, but if I leave it idle, i.e. overnight, this problem appears. Am I getting timed out? (My clients lights are black) I clicked refresh on my browser, this morning, on the torrents forum and page reloaded no problem and I was still logged on fine to the website.

If someone can help clear this up it would be appreciated. It is seriously hampering me improving my ratio.

go to www.murmurs.com/torrents to kinda relogin to the tracker and then click on update tracker in your bittoretn client (at least there is a button like that in azureus).
i hope that solves the problem.

i did not experience that problem though when i kept azureus running over night, only when i got a new ip.

so until now i cannot tell whether it is a timeout issue or an ip issue, for you it definitely looks like there is a timeout as well.

I use predominantly BitTornado. I do not know if there is such a facility on it, I don't think so.  It gets fixed anyway when, as you suggested to, log out and back in again on www.murmurs.com/torrents

It does not address the issue of being unable to leave my PC for extended periods torrenting.

I have not changed my ISP, but since I set up static IP this seems to be happening. Did you read the link I provided? Ethan seemed to be able to do something for most of those people and they had the same message as me, one person had changed something on his connection and the tracker kept timing him out, it stopped after Ethan changed something on the server.
