Dave, I should take you and Lisa up to my parents' house sometime. They generate all of their own electricity with photovoltaic cells and a windmill. They have a refrigerator, water pumps, TV, VCR, etc. My dad even has a small recording studio that runs off the solar power. They also heat their house with passive solar.
One of these days, I'd like to do the same with my house. I miss the Carter tax credits for alternative energy, but the increase in prices will eventually make it feasable again.
