Hi
I got some CDs from trade or vines from concerts that haven't still been on the tracker here:
Leipzig 13.02.2005
Berlin 15.02.2005
Brisbane 29.03.2005
Unfortunately the tracks seem to be wma-files and not wav-files, so I can't encode them to flac. I wanted to try to set up a torrent in the next days and share those concerts.
I am not a specialist in audio software, so I have no idea what to do.
Maybe I can even send some copies to someone of you, who can try to put these concerts here on the tracker.
Thanks a lot for helping out.

You cannot put WMA Files on the tracker. It is not allowed because WMA is a compressed format.

Like Eric said wma are compressed files so they are not allowed in the tracker. I have a copy of Brisbane concert and will be on my soon to torrent shows.

Hi
I know that only wav files can be put on the tracker. But I asked if someone can help out because I have no idea about all these formats, codecs and so one.
Is it possible to turn wma- to wav-files? Is it just my software (Media Player, Real Player) showing the files as wma???
As I said, I have no idea about all that stuff.
I wanted to share those concerts, nevertheless I put them on my trade list, if someone wants them.

Which show comes in original .wav files? I can offer to torrent it for you if you want to send the shows with original .wav files.
About your questions on how to convert mwa to wav, it is possible to convert it but it was not recommended because wma is already lossy files and to convert it it will further degenerate the files. Best to keep the wma as it is and when you post it in your trading list make sure to make a note that its lossy files that way traders will know this as not to farther spoil the trading pool.

Hi
OK, thanks Zarok. But it seems that the 3 concerts I got are wma-files. :( What a pitty.

What program did you use to rip the songs on the CD to the computer? If you use Windows Media Player, it'll rip them into .wma format instead of .wav (although it has a Windows Media lossless option if you go under Tools-Options-Rip Music - what's that?). If you use Winamp, you can rip to .wav files. I'm not sure about other media players, but you may have to go under the options menu and find where you can change ripping options. So, the problem may not be the actual disc but the program that's ripping it. If the CDs have .wma files on them, then you can't upload them here.

Thanks a lot for the tip with winamp. I managed to rip all the CDs to wav. So now I can try to set up a torrent.

I've used TorrentSpy successfully to create torrents to upload. I don't have any links to the software, but I'm sure you can come up with something if you google it.
Easy CD-DA Extractor is a great little program to extract audio from CDs. Also look into EAC (Exact Audio Copy). I think EAC is regarded as one of the better audio rippers.
One last suggestion before you start torrenting, would be to check out Flac Frontend. You can compress the extracted .wav files into .flac files, saving you some bandwidth when uploading (.flac files are lossless, and are generally 20%-30% less in size than .wav)
Hope this helps :)

You can use WMP if you install a small plug-in on it. If you are interested let me know.

I use MakeTorrent2 to create torrents and if you need help with it just contact me. I also use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) to rip the audio discs and it is THE recommended ripper of traders to use. If you need help with it just let me know.
And, yes make sure to post it as FLAC or SHN as it was the recommended files here in our tracker otherwise we will be taking it down because of the bandwidth issue. Please also include the lineage and source in the info text.
