Hey!
I'm going to NYC for the first time and am seeking any advice.
I'm going to hit up all the regulars, H&H, Katz's, WTC, Empire State, Times Square, NBC, etc... anywhere else I shouldn't miss?
Also anyone remember those places Michael likes to go? Eating the sandwich he reccommends would be pretty cool.
Thanks!

Basically, wandering around anywhere will get you to somewhere cool. If you're going over a weekend, Greenwich Village and Chelsea have cool street fairs, with lots of interesting stuff to buy (for pretty cheap -- I picked up a cool t-shirt for $5 last time I went). The nightlife in the Village is also pretty fun.
Battery Park is nice place to walk through on a breezy afternoon. St. Mark's Place has some cool shopping and some fun underground record stores. Morningside Heights, up by Columbia is a cool little neighborhood with some college-minded nightlife and lots of great restaurants. There are also some great restaurants on the Lower East Side, down by 2nd Ave. and Houston.
I would recommend picking up a copy of the Village Voice, Time Out New York, or The L (VV and The L are free at newstands around the city) and checking out the calendars. There are a lot of really fun, free events going on around the city. When I lived there, in three months, I saw FREE concerts from Patti Smith, Rufus Wainwright, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Sonic Youth, Sonny Rollins, and Wynton Marsalis.. it's just a matter of finding where the cool stuff is happening.
Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the try, I was gone when you posted.
Wow, I did and saw so much yet hardly did anything that I wanted to! The time flew by I could have had a week and would've had to be skimpy with my time. I did do some of the stuff you mentioned, I'll post a thread in the paint the places you have seen forum.

Yeah, I lived there for three months and still didn't see everything I wanted to. It's just that kind of place. But, you're almost guaranteed to have fun just walking around. That's part of the fun.
