OK, I *finally* got DSL, I've got Bitcomet, I'm connected.

BUT - I'm having trouble setting my *upload* speed.  Obviously I want to maximize it - so I set "no limit" on upload speed everywhere I saw a setting for that...  Went into "task specific settings" for the current torrent and set *minimum* upload speed to 5kb...  And it's still only uploading at a fraction of what it's downloading at.  I can post a screenshot of the stats of the current torrent if that will help.

Anyone know what I need to do to make my upload rate higher??

Many thanks!!

EDIT:   Been tweaking settings & it's not getting any better.  This is a Win2k PC w/ a hardware DSL router/firewall.  I do NOT have the administrative password to get into the router software & reconfigure, although I do have the documentation that tells me how to do that, if only I could get in!  ;)

Do I need to look into port forwarding??  If so, how & where??  My http speed is still very fast, so it's not like my connection is overwhelmed or anything.

If no one here uses BitComet, maybe y'all can tell me what other clients might be easier to configure for the Murmurs tracker??

Please note I've got to be away from the puter for a while & may not respond right away but please don't cut me off even though it looks like I'm not uploading much...  I'm trying, honest I am!   :(

EDIT AGAIN:  OK, I just stopped that torrent (which only had 1 seed & 2 leeches) and am trying another one and while the upload speed is slightly better it's still not nearly what I want it to be.  Stats show 4 kb down to 1 kb up and I've got my MINIMUM upload rate set to 3kb?????  Help???  (And now I've really GOT to leave for work!)

OK, disgregard, I've got it figured out.  I think I didn't have enough available to upload at the time I first posted.  Now I'm where I want to be - uploading more than I'm downloading.  I'll get caught up eventually.  ;)

on DSL upload speed bandwidth kis usually alot lower than download.

I used to ne 1500kb down and 256kb up

now im 24000kb down and 1500kb up

So my download speed is always way better than my up?

Thanks Sibko!  After studying the matter all day ;) it definitely is a router/firewall problem.  Azureus will not work w/ this router at all - "NAT Problem", end of story.

BitComet has a way around that, called NAT Transversal, which means I can still connect to the tracker even though my speed is sloooowww, and I can still upload to other people with NAT Transversal or UPnP enabled (XP users mainly).  It doesn't work *well* but it does work.

I'll be away from puter at work all day tomorrow but I'll call my ISP on Monday & see if they will part with the router password.  It's a small ISP & I helped them incorporate, so they probably will.    ;)  So please be patient until I can get the port forwarding sorted out!

BTW for any other newbies, BitComet has the best SIMPLE instructions on port forwarding I've yet seen.  (They even made sense to me!) Go here:

Cayman 3220-H - I know what the default admin PW is supposed to be but my ISP has changed it.  ;)

Let me get this straight, you can download at 24000kb/s???  That means you could download a 500mb torrent in less than 30 seconds.  Even if you meant 2400kb/s that's less than 4 minutes.

I've never seen anything on my connections higher than 200kb/s
