This is my first post here, so I hope this works...I got this show from the taper, who lent me his master tapes. This is A- sound, IMO one of the better sounding REM audience recordings I've heard from this period--bright & clear with minimal audience interference. (At about a minute and half into Femme Fatale you can hear a woman commenting about Micheal Stipe's hair: "Look at his hair--it looks terrible. Cut your hair darling, it's 1984!" ) I found this show on a couple of trade lists when I Googled for it, but as the taper gave copies to only three people--one of them Peter Buck--they're from either a different source or from at least 2nd gen copies. In any case, I think you'll like this. Artwork is included.

Wow. This baby is *zipping* right along! Glad there are so many people seeding it.  Thanks so much for posting it.  I want anything with "Kohoutek" on it, since it's one of my favorite songs, and was so rarely played.

I have to agree that this is one of the best audience recordings from that period that I have heard. It's been awhile since I've listened to a show from '84.


I put it Disc I on while cleaning  last night, and was absolutely floored. The sound is bright and clear, and the performance is fantastic.  The crowd seems to be going nuts for them, which is nice. It's actually one of the most energetic of their performances I've heard (at least in my world at the moment).

Kohoutek is one of my all-time favorites, and it's nice to hear it here done well. Michael nails the vocals.

Incidentally, does anybody have any idea what is being yelled at the band when Michael says "Forget it!".  I couldn't hear it from the kitchen. Something like yelling for Freebird or something?

Anyways, thanks a million for sharing this one. It's a real find.

Some fans are yelling requests for "Stumble."  Later on into the show Michael snaps back, "NO!  I hate that song!"  Gee Michael, then why'd you record it in the first place..:confused: LOL!

BTW, the taper also recorded REM in NOLA in '81 and '83, if I can get the masters from him and they're decent sounding I'll post them here sometime in the future.  It took me over six months to get to this show so don't hold your breath...

One other thing, would there be any interest in my posting a recorded interview with Peter Buck from '83?  I and my co-host interviewed Peter for our radio show on a community radio station in the midwest.  I haven't listened to it in 20 years, but I do recall that Peter complimented us on how good our questions were compared to the other interviews he had done prior on that tour.

Please do post this as I know there will be lots of people interested with this. Peter has always been the best interviewee among the band members.

LOL. Well put!  Isn't Stumble pretty rarely performed period? I don't have it on any of the live portion of my vinyl boots that I collected from years back. Thank God for the internet, BTW.  A member of my family paid 50 bucks for the double vinyl copy of "Can't Get There From Here" bootleg as a Christmas Gift for me.  And that was in 1990/91!

Pretty please with sugar on top. I won't hold the air in, but if he did as good a job, these would be fantastic additions to the timeline.

Off the top of my head, one line or two. I think he hits it in place of some of the words on the second normal verse of  Seven Chinese Brothers.

Don't quote me though.

BTW, this is such an energetic performance. you should get it just for its sound quality and raw energy, IMHO.
