Aiguille du Midi (3842 m) near Mont Blanc.  The altitude was quite a shock - I felt really dizzy for about 10 minutes.

Also managed 37,000ft in a 747 - the pilot came on the tannoy and announced that he had never flown the plane that high up before!  He sounded like he was enjoying himself but I wasn't...  :p

I think it's the Jungfraujoch but I may be wrong. Google is your friend.

I flew at 55,000 ft in a 767 once, to go over some storms in the Gulf of Mexico. I was noticing how the sky looked kinda blackish during the day when the captain came on and said that was probably the highest anyone onboard had ever flown. I wasn't able to see any stars during the day, but I could tell it was close.

Cool fact - the bottom of the Grand Canyon is above sea level!

What's the highest mountain in Switzerland? St Bernadino's?? Somewhere like that. If not, either Mount Rainier or Mount Olympia, WA. Whichever of those 3 is highest...and I suspect the Swiss one.

Q: What is the name of the highest mountain in Switzerland and what is its elevation ?
A: Monte Rosa ("Dufourspitze") on the border between Switzerland and Italy, elevation 4634 m (15'203 feet)

ps. when I googled ("Mount Olympia" + altitude) the first thing that came up was this thread... pretty funny...

The highest point I've reached:
Probably about 4900m, somewhere on the southern Altiplano of Bolivia.

Highest place I've biked:
Paso de la Cumbre, ~4700 asl, on the La Paz-Coroico Road, Bolivia.  Proof in attached photo, taken near the pass.  The descent from there to 1200m in 60km was one of the most exciting bike rides I've done.

The highest place I have reached:
about 3200m in the Tuxer Alps (Tyrol) and in the Hohen Tauern (Eastern Tyrol, Salzburg, Carinthia)!

I'm pretty sure 55,000 feet is stratospheric.

hiking (almost exactly 1 year ago): Pico Ruivo, Madeira (Port.), 1640 m.

the response is maybe late by more than a month, but yes, that is the laocoon group. Oh Rome... how can memories of that city not be happy....

btw.. I'd love to see that picture...
upon closer investigation, we are not a 100% authentic copy of the original sculpture (mostly, of course, due to the fact that i am not naked!), but i bet someone (i don't know who, but just someone) could argue that we are also a work of art! i am laokoon, the other two girls are my sons, and the boy is the snake.

Oh :( I like that brand, kind of outdoorsy. Not a fan of ultra bright colors either though, so I can understand what you're saying..

Mount Mitchell, which is in North Carolina,USA.I believe the summit is at 6,684 ft. This pales in comparison to a lot of heights reached. It is the highest peak in the eastern half of the U.S.

Colle del Nivolet (Cottian Alps in Piedmont: chief town Turin): 2612 meters; it's in the "Gran Parco del Paradiso", a big, beautiful park where you can easily see steinboks and chamois gazing: they're lovely. Patrizia

The Swiss Alps. We were so high up (with no guardrails mind you) that a fleet of jets could be seen flying below us.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

1.67 on high heels :p  shows I haven't traveled much lately...

but really, Monterrey is surrounded by mountains (my house is built on what once was a mountain) and we are around 540 meters above the sea level... i dunno if that's really high.
