Hello. My name is Cira. I have been (literally) feeding an addiction for several years now. My drug of choice is the olive.
I'm quite obsessed with them. I think about them a lot. I check them out in grocery stores. I scan through menus to see which dishes include them. Finding an olive bar in a store is the ultimate fix.
It has been my experience that people either love or hate olives. Mind you, I'm not talking about canned black olives. That's the equivalent of canned tuna as opposed to fresh baked tuna. My favorite are Calamata Olives. They are amazing. Mmm.
My questions to you are:
Do you like olives?
If no, have you ever had the real Greek kind?
What is your favorite kind of olive?

Hello, my name is Taylor and I too am an olive addict. I am so thrilled to find there's a thread dedicated to this addiction.
Though I do like black olives, and they were a favorite of mine as a young child - I now prefer the addictive taste of green olives.
Spanish olives stuffed with pimientos.....*drools*
I am eating some right now...

hello, my name is astrid and i'm an oliveholic. my favourite fix are big, green spanish ones, in hot chilli marinade or garlic stuffed, and medium sized black turkish ones dried and then reconstituted in oil - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! i'm not too gone on the briney varieties and kalamatas, but each to their own i guess. together with my even more addicted significant other i get through two of the big pots from superquinn's olive bar a week, and sometimes more. we snack of them, telling ourselves it's better than crisps or popcorn - for sure a sign of serious addiction. we also tend to get mildly mad with each other for having each other's favourites. we need help. :( ;)

Hi. I'm Sue and I'm an Oliveholic.
My main craving is Kalamatas but I'll eat them all. I was introduced to anchovy stuffed green olives in France last year and am in real trouble because I can't find any here...I'm the only one in my family that loves them. It's good to be among people who understand.

I was worried about olives and a little afraid until a friend of mine ordered a pizza with green olives on it and I tried some. After that I was all about the olives. I find olives seem to go good with cream cheese and artichokes.

Oooh, I'm so glad that there are fellow addicts here on Murmurs. *Group hug*
I'm a wimp when it comes to anything spicy, so I've never tried jalapeno-stuffed olives. Citrus-stuffed is amazing. So are olives with mozzerela and plum tomatos. Mmm.
I went to a restaurant in Boston once that had an artichoke/spinach/olive dip. Oh. My. God. I need to look online to see if I can find a recipe for that somewhere.

I hate the olives you can usually buy in Germany, but I love Mallorquin and Greek olives because they are real :)

I don't eat them straight that much, but I love things with olives in them. Like this:
4 cloves garlic- halved, and cooked in olive oil until soft
1 cup chopped olives
can of tuna
pinch of something spicy: red pepper flakes, cayenne, whatever
a few anchovies (optional)
1 tablespoon capers
parsley
a little stock or water
after the garlic is cooked, smash the halves, stir in the rest and heat through. Serve over spaghetti.
Those green olives stuffed with garlic sound appealing, I'll have to look for them.

Mmmm... olives. Definately up there with my chocolate and coffee addictions. I think I eat a few in some capacity every day, but my favorite are the ones stuffed with blue cheese. Mmmm, yum. :D

hello my name is Lucy and I'm a new olive addict. Can someone tell me what to expect - is this lifelong now? I started to like olives since I had pasta with a new stir in pasta sauce with olive and tomatos. I've never really tried olives properly before then. I had pizza the other week and put some olives on there... what a lovely transformation.
Wow.. olives stuffed with blue cheese.. never seen that before, but will try it one day!

Probably the #1 thing to expect is cravings... lots of cravings. And if you like your olives with garlic, you can anticipate some bad breath to go along with those cravings.
Also expect a bit of resentment to friends who don't like olves. ;)

I normally eat the green or black ones. Never tried a stuffed one, but will go hunting for them in Sainsbury's this evening....

I love olives:)
We have a farmers market every Friday, and one of hte stalls sells olives - every shape, size and variety.
My favourties are green ones stuffed with feta cheese, green ones marinated in sun dried tomatoes and garlic and green ones marinated in lemon and coriander.
I usually buy a tub of each of those each week, and sometimes a variety tub too. Olives and a glass of red wine whilst making the dinner is the way to go!

My name is Anastasia,
And I have to say I love the Kalamatas as well, I think it is my mediterranean background which has caused my addiction.
