I went to a book bazaar this morning. Here's what I bought:
Chuck Palahniuk Survivor
Hubert Selby jr. The willow tree
Alexander Trocchi Helen and Desire
Goethe Faust
Any comments on either of these would be much appreciated :)

What do you think of it, Helen?
It made me want to dig out my Bill Hicks CDs and listen again and hear the material delivered with that fire which you just don't get from the page.
Stand up comedy is meant to be spoken not read, and some of the material from one show to the next is not that different, definitely could have done with some editing to avoid the repitition. Some of the letters and articles are neat though.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindess.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed. and redeemed, never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. Enjoyed it very much. Just received Hard Revolution: A Novel by George Pelecanos as a gift, but haven't started it yet.
Far away wakes the great world, mad with grim enchantment, disquieted, fearful of night and day. Your eyes, fearless and serene, smile bright at me.

It's been a while.. a shamefully long while.. since I last purchased a book.
I should really go book shopping. Like, today.
I think the last book I bought was "Tipping the Velvet" by Sarah Waters.

The latest from Joe R. Lansdale, who has earned the spot of my second favorite author (behind Stephen King).
