Mark, I saw your pics on facebook already and you're right I am jealous :p This is how I imagine the heaven ;) Nice weather and all those beautiful dressed people :p

When I was younger I always wished myself a wedding like your sister did but in the meantime I changed my mind. I don't want a big party anymore. Just Klaus and me somewhere on a special place. I have some in my mind but I won't tell you ;):p

Btw. you and Tanya look great together :)

I seen your pics too, Mark. I have one question for you though, just how big was the writing in the sand?

That one was pretty small. I did a bigger version further down the beach but the waves got it pretty quick.

It's so sad that travelling is more expensive these days than it was in the 70s and 80s. It's nearly impossible to find cheap places to sleep or cheap restaurants for food :( A friend of mine traveled Europe in the 70s and 80s much and she told me she has found accommodation in Greece or Spain for 5 $ a night - breakfast included  Today you can't find a place under 80 $ or more :( This makes it impossible to travel for people with less money even when the flights are cheaper.

The income of the people doesn't increases in the same way as the costs do. So, there's no money left for the nice things of life :(

Hi everybody!

Jutta, in about 1990 we travelled to Turkey with an 'interrail' rail pass, and stayed at a (okay, very average) hotel in Istanbul that cost us 5,- Mark at the time (2,50 Euro, lol). All the restaurants were also very cheap there - like 1,- Eur for a cheap meal and 2,50 Eur for a really good meal.

On our way back, we stayed on a Greek island and slept in a tent in a forest - I slept outdoors.

We often slept in the trains as well to save money (which we didn't have at the time).

I have absolutely beautiful memories of this holiday. We bathed in a mountain lake. Wonderful.

I popped in here and then but the bar is always empty :o I admit that I'm not here often lately, too but I miss our chats.

Weekend will be here soon - thank god - and this will be the weekend I'll see my bf after 3 weeks no see. Believe me 3 weeks can be long. Just calling isn't enough ;)

Well, if somebodwill pop in I wish her / him a nice weekend with loads of fun.

Hi Andrea :) Good to see a "new" face in the bar.

I never did the interrail thing since my parents weren't afraid about what could happen on travels abroad :( On the other side I've been to Amsterdam for a long weekend with a friend and I'm sure my mom don't wanna know what we've did there - not even now :p;) We stayed at a super cheap youth hostel downtown and did all the tourist things (you know Anne Frank House, several museums etc.) and other somewhat "cultural" ;) things.

My ex bf and I never had enough money for a hotel so we often went camping. Either on several netherlands island (which are not very far from my hometown) or in Norway. I still love camping. But since I'm older now and I need more comfort I own a camper. It's still a cheap way to travel (if you don't count the fuel prices )

I love snow when it's christmas time and I don't have to work. Or on holidays with loads of sun aswell - like scandinavian winters. But if we have snow here it's only a mess. Black frozen mud  Not fun to walk through or driving anyway. So, keep away snow!!!!

Sadly, the Watertower Bar is a microcosm of the whole site lately. The posts are few and far between and it's hard to get a good thread going. I opened up the site at work today, there were less than 30 people viewing the site and non were signed in members. I have never seen it so deserted.

Anyway, enough of the gloom. It's the weekend! It is still supposed to be between 40 and 46 degrees in Sydney this weekend. I may go to the beach but I will need a whole bottle of sunscreen.

I'm going to have a few beers with some mates from Uni that I never see anymore. Its hard to get together with people having kids and everything else that takes over your life. Nothing better than an afternoon spent in the beer garden!

Anybody else got anything going on?

Since it's still winter in the northern hemisphere no beer garden for me ;) I hope I can make it there in 3 month :p

The weather forecast says snow for the weekend so we didn't make plans, yet. Just going out with the dog here and then. He don't cares about the weather.

Tomorrow we'll go to the cinema to see "Benjamin Button". Finally this movie arrives in Germany whilst it's already available on dvd at the rest of the world  I'm curious to see the "old" man Brad Pitt.

Have a great weekend everybody.

It's a very good movie, but it's very long- almost 3 hours. It's actually still playing in the movie theatre I work at.

Evenin all- I can't seem to get to the bar at the Tractor Bar so I've come for a drink here- orange juice, lemonade and brandy please- nice and warming. I also havnt seen BB but would like to. Went to see Up last week- made me variously laugh and cry and the 4 year old sitting next to me also had a bag of aero balls. The short film beforehand was fab also. :):cool:

Holy flashback! I have not seen this thread in a while! Not many bars still exist on Murmurs now. Not many posters either.... The Tractor Bar is still active but this one and the Teenage Kicks one are quietly collecting dust.

Was TATP always in TEP? It has actually been that long that I can't remember.

I'm not expecting an answer, as the average time between posts in here seems to be a year. Facebook has pretty much removed the need for the bar.
