rushmore:
one of the more critically acclaimed movies i should have watched as a teenager but didn't. and now i found it(vcd format) on the bottom shelf of a (mostly) chinese video store with a 2.90 price tag. against the ropes starring meg ryan went for $5. the vcd is dead, long live the vcd. oh yeah, about the movie. guess i wouldn't have appreciated this as much if i watched it as a teen . the silly yoko ono reference, the male bonding(though i wouldn't befriend murray's replusive character), and fucking APOCALYPSE NOW in a school play. Owen Wilson co-wrote this?!? haven't read about him writing anything. guess his mainstream acts pay better.

against the ropes: felt like watching another rocky but with a MILF, and buff men talking down to the MILF. kinda boring. read up further on the real-life person this movie was suppose to be about... and the details were a lot more intriguing than this movie. jewish...57 years old... star of david.. was no man's bloody secretary.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was my favorite TV show that I've seen in years.  God damn television executives to Hell for cancelling this show.  Surely, the world could use this show instead of one of the several "High Maintenance Divorced Idiots With Fourteen Children In One House" reality shows.

Shinjuku Triad Society

First in the thematic trilogy about exile and xenophobia that includes at least two minor masterpieces in Ley Lines and Rainy Dog. I'll have to wait and see if the same goes for this one, although the dvdtimes review suggest it does.

Obviously, Sukiyaki Western Django got a release over here (after all it features the Q-Man himself) but Takashi Miike has been otherwise underrepresented on UK DVD's of late, which is a shame and a little mystifying.

The Wild Wild West (TV Series, Complete Series Boxed Set)
The Rat Race (comedy with Woopi Goldberg, John Cleese, and Rowland Atkinson...thought it would be halarious, but it's just stupid. Period.)

The Hou Hsiao Hsien boxset is apparently not of great quality presentation wise but it's the best available with English subtitles. Plus it works out at a bit over £4 a film so unless Artificial Eye suddenly decide to release more of his films, it should be a good investment. I've been looking for a way to see his films for a long time.

The other two are interesting looking and acclaimed films from Pen-Ek Ratanaruang and Shinya Tsukamoto, who I like, and both star the brilliant Tadanobu Asano.

crusade vol. 1.03: the path of sorrows, and the rules of the game.
they make sci-fi like this or show them on tv anymore. this is as good as any babble-on 5 production.

ren & stimpy in disguise.
going to look at it. frankly never cared much for them. originally watched them with poor reception on an indonesian channel. certainly stylish and very edgy for a made for a kids cartoon. but never had the kinda witty lines you could find in Animaniacs or The Tick. but they're the forefathers of freaky humour like what's found in  Cow And Chicken and Invader Zim.
Good times, I'm okay. Bad times, I'm okay.
