2004 is the 60th Anniversary of the World Bank & International Monetary Fund. Since 1944 both institutions have pushed policies that:
Decimate women's rights and devastate the lives of women, their families and communities.
Hand democracy over to bankers and corporate boards.
Trap countries in a cycle of debt dependence.
Force governments to privatize essential services.
Perpetuate the destruction of the environment in the name of profit-making.
Institutionalize the domination of the wealthy over the impoverished_ the new form of colonialism.
Facilitate corporate agendas through the economic restructuring of countries enduring conflict and occupation, such as Afghanistan and Iraq.

You won't see Stipe going to Fargo to help the people there devastated by floods for a variety of reasons. First, the people are helping themselves. When it became aware of impending floods the citizens, all of them, banded together, filled each and every sand bag, and placed them in key locations. They never waited for the government to bail them out or "save" them. Much different than New Orleans. Second, they are not black. Third, Obama is the president. Stipe and all of these hollywood elitist are so transparent it is laughable.
This transparency is why the last album bombed. I love their music but that thing was a piece of crap. George Bush....waaaaaa !!! That about sums it up.

this isn't the time or place for this, but their last album had the best sales of their career since automatic. it most certainly didn't bomb. sorry you're old and bitter, but don't infect the rest of us who are happy.
