It's better to be loved by the righteous few than to be liked by a lukewarm many.

Just downloading the Fable (delux) from Itunes. Good VFM for £4.99. I'd have bought the normal album for that. Just goes to show if they offered more better VFM on itunes, I mean everyone not just R.E.M and their record co. then they'd sell more. I don't like them charging 99p per track when it used to be 79p and have you noticed it's only the big selling acts that are charging 99p. Lambchop songs don't cost 99p!

ON a bit of an R.E.M splurge atm. Having bought LRP on vinyl and C.D I've had to buy it on mp3 now. Don't know what happened to my c.d of it. A/w it's strange it's twice the price of the Fables deluxe issue.

Long sought after but never owned, until today. A 1st pressing of "Radio Free Europe".
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

Nice! I owned two 2nd pressings, including one I had gotten signed, for a while but still yearned for a 1st pressing until I got mine. I actually bought it from Randy Bewley, who put it up on eBay, right before he passed away. Was this an eBay find, Jonathan?

I found it from someone locally thanks to FB. Upon the announcement of R.E.M. disbanding, there were lots of folks from around here reminiscing about seeing them at the Station, the Pier, etc. and this one person said she had a copy of "Radio Free Europe" she was willing to part with. For as long as I've been looking for it, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I didn't know until yesterday that it was a first pressing.

I haven't even listened to the Document remaster yet, I went straight for the concert disc, which I love.
