5) Do you want to move to Nunavut?

6) Have you ever been to Yellowknife? What is your favorite Canadian Rock Band?

Dear Mountainbed9:

As I am no longer Joni's virtual slave, I can now answer your questions about Canada:

1)  Although most feminists would lynch me for this, I like Don Cherry.  He does a lot of volunteer work and charity work (in his late wife's memory) and is *not* afraid to speak his mind.  Ever.  'Nuff said.  He also is a *strong supporter* of the Canadian Women's hockey team.  Our girls kicked butt in Salt Lake City!

2)  Je nais pas une separatiste (I am not a Separatist).  I believe in a peaceful, bilingual society.

3)  As Murmurs is an American website, then posts should be in English only.  The USA is not a bilingual country.

4)  I have no idea why our dollar is so devalued, but there are some contributing factors.  Canadian workers make, on the average, about $18.00/hr; American workers make much less.  Following this . . . . We have to try and sell our products in a global economy, at a price that will pay our workers, our universal health system, our universal pension system, etc.  Following this . . . .  but no one in the world economy will give us, anymore for our goods, than they will give, say, our American neighbours.  I think this is a good start to understanding the devaluement of the Canadian Economy.

5)  Nunavut????   There's no bass fishing in Nunavut, therefore, MLG would not live there!

6)  Never been to Yellowknife, too many blackflies and mosquitoes.

7)  My favourite Canadian Rock Band is the Tragically Hip; my favourite Canadian male vocal artist is Art Bergman; my favourite Canadian female vocal artist is Sarah McLaughlin.

On a final note, remember, *real women* who curl and golf in Canada, *always* wear KILTS!

I am sorry that you are not Joni's virtual slave anymore. What happened that changed that. I do no believe in slavery myself, nor do I believe completely in adopting newbies. I tend to believe in conversing with them and treating them as people. You can learn a lot about yourself through people. Anyhow.

1) Re: Don Cherry. Alien aka Jill really likes Don Cherry and wants to Marry him. He does speak his mind which I admire. That is good that he does so much charity work. YOu can say he puts his money where his mouth is.

4) It never seemed to be that bad but it is getting worse. Why do you think Americans hate when they get canadian currency? They should just move you to american currency. :)

5) Why cant you bass fish in Nunavut? It would seem logical to fish up there. Do the Indians not allow it?

7) http://thelifting.4t.com/crt.html I really encourage you to visit this site and check out Americas favorite Canadian Indie Rock Band the Cathoraytubes.

re: Kilts arent they made of wool? I hope they dont itch too much and cause a rash.

re: Kilts arent they made of wool? I hope they dont itch too much and cause a rash.

Hey Mountainbed 9:

No, no, the whole virtual slave thing with Joni was all in good fun.  Bill Berry said I could only bow my head in reverance and touch his brow from cyberspace, with soft, protective gloves, so as not to harm his magnificent brow.  As I didn't have any polar-tec fleece gloves, I got to bow my head reverntly from cyberspace, sit on my hands, and become Joni's virtual slave (cook and car washer) for 3.5 days - it was fun!  Adopting newbies is kind of nice, but more in the, "let's chat and make everyone feel welcome" kind of way.

I can well understand Jill's reverance for Mr. Don Cherry.  However, I'll let Jill in on a little secret.  Mr. Cherry, after losing his beloved wife Rose to cancer, remarried in 1999 or 2000.  I am glad that Mr. Cherry didn't sit around and "cry" about Rose for the rest of his life . . . .

Well, yes, it is getting worse, our economy, that is.  And if you have been following North American politics and NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) for the past 13 or so years, it will only be a matter of time (perhaps 10 or 20 years) when North America will most likely be on one standardized currency.

There are no small-mouth bass up in Nunavut.  I believe the *Inuit* people fish for Arctic Char.

Curling/Golfing kilts are made of a lovely, non-itchy kind of wool, and most guys find them damn sexy, too!

Thanks for the link to that website, I will be sure to check it out - I just checked the link to that website out, and my, that looks like some really *interesting* musical content.

Hello, everybody, I'm Lakshmi...and I'm a newbie.

*"Hi, Lakshmi!"*

I was wondering if some kind soul could show me around the boards and help me with generic stuff like posting...I look forward to hanging out here and chatting with everyone.(:

Info on me: 26/married/f/fan since '94. Fables is my favourite record, I don't have a favourite song (since it changes all the freakin' time).

okay, so when I first came back after a long absence, I kept trying to get adopted, but I failed miserably and now am kind of established on my own I guess?

I'm too old to be adopted now............

Anyway, I'll adopt a newbie if someone would like.......ask me questions, if you aren't sure........

MLG... I just signed up for an account an hour ago.  I am a young freak who doesn't mind Don Cherry, loves the Tragically Hip, and doesn't mind curling.  Could you adopt me? :)

I'd like some help with a couple of things so anyone willing to take me?  I hope that my asking will be enough, but if not grill me appropriately to determine if I'm your child...

Hi. I cannot claim to be a newbie, because I have been a subsciber for some time and enjoy being a voyeur on "we talk".

However, being very stereotypical reserved English guy, only semi-tech-literate and very sadly too busy working or playing golf, I need someone understanding and empathetic to give me the hand-held tour of We Talk.

I am intrigued by all these nice pretty symbols and pictures, etc.

Any volunteers gratefully received. I know a bit about the legend that is REM, but unbelievable as it may seem, a lot more about the very dull subjects of Ipswich Town, pensions and golf. Now if that doesn't whet your appetite........................................
