I'll give another chance tonight on headphones especially for you (and for me too, he he). On first two listens, I just thought it was a boring record with artificial gimmicks and very annoying vocals. I might be wrong, of course.

Um, sorry Antti (and Chris and all the others) but I still don't like the Clinic CD. I don't think it's bad, though, but IMO there's nothing really gripping - I almost fell asleep by the eighth or ninth song (I'll admit Harmony and For the wars are good songs) and the vocals annoy me.

Oasis at The Tabernacle, Atlanta, GA on August 5.

I purchased Oasis through an internet presale on Ticketmaster today.
Oasis in a small venue; I think that it'll be a killer show.

Of course, fifteen minutes after I've already purchased Oasis, I find out that the Sonic Youth show, which is not going onsale yet, is going to be on the exact same night.   So typical...
Maybe Oasis will split up before August...lol.

Tuatara on July 16th.... maybe Minus 5 two days before that too, if they go on sale soon.

Wire
September 21, Echo Lounge, Atlanta

I'm excited about seeing Wire in concert.   Wire is one band that I really did not expect to ever play in my area ever again.    September 21 is a really long time to wait for a concert, but it's all good.   Rock on.

I don't really attend any big arena shows any more, mainly clubs but I just secured tickets to an all acoustic house concert by the Drive By Truckers that is coming up later this month.

On the horizon...Willie Nelson (I did get to see Waylon but never Willie), Tuatara later this summer and there are rumblings of a Wilco appearance here (NC) this fall. Also, the Gourds in September.

"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

Paul Simon - July 27th, Kilkenny, Ireland.
Every thousand years, this metal sphere ten times the size of Jupiter floats just a few yards past the earth. You climb on your roof and take a swipe at it with a single feather - hit it once every thousand years `til you've worn it down to the size of a pea. Yeah, I'd say that's a long time but it's only half a blink in the place you're gonna be.

Drive-By Truckers are playing at Athfest next week (Friday, 9:20 p.m. at the big outdoor stage).

A bunch of us here are going to be at Athfest and will most likely be at the Drive-By Truckers show.  You are more than welcome to come join us there.   I'm not sure how long of a drive Athens is from where you are, but, if you decide to stop by, let us know.

I truly appreciate the invite as a return trip to Athens is long overdue for me. Athens is probably close to a seven or eight hour trip for me which would mean taking next Friday off which is just totally out of the question for me right now. Like I said, I do greatly appreciate the invitation. If and when I do make that return trip to Athens I will most certainly give you a head's up. Please report back on the show whether you like them or not, I realize the DBTs are not everyone's cup of tea but they are certainly one of my favorite bands on the planet right now bar none.

I'll definitely give a report of the Drive By Truckers performance if I am at that particular stage at the time (and I probably will be).    I've never actually heard Drive-By Truckers before, so this will be a good intro, I'm sure.

After all, two years ago, I had never heard Macha before I saw them on the big outdoor stage at Athfest (the same night and time as Drive-By Truckers, in fact) and I listen to their music regularly now.   Maybe history will repeat itself.

I want to know how this was--report back after you see him. (Please) I saw him 11 years ago during his Born at the Right Time tour and he was absolutely amazing. A friend of mine saw one of his earlier shows on the same tour and he said he played for four hours straight. (He played for two when I saw him.)

I have seen a few of his more recent performances on TV (just one or two songs) and it sounds like his voice is going. Simon is one of my favorites and I am hoping he was just having an off night(s).
