It's the poison that it measures
Brings illuminating vision
It's the knowing with a wink
That we expect in Southern women
It's the wolf that knows which root to dig to save itself
It's the octopus that crawled back to the sea.

The Toronto shows were great. A few kinks to be worked out so early in the tour but great to hear new songs and old and lots of changes in the set list between the two shows. I was very happy with the ticket sales at the venue. The 800 best seats in the house were subject to very controlled sales/entry to limit the number of good tix in the hands of scalpers. Seems to have worked well. I think Wilco arranged it in as many venues as they could. I hope yours was one of them. Enjoy.
I believe it (Raleigh Amphitheatre) was but I actually had trouble getting tix through the website they had set up for this tour via the first pre-sale. The site wouldn't allow me to create an account until the time tickets went on sale which was very nerve racking. Once I was finally able to log in, I was booted from the site and wasn't able to get back in again (those tickets sold out). Still, I ended up with fairly decent seats via the public sale the next day but not nearly as good as they would have been if not for the technical issues. It's such a small venue (not sure of the exact capacity) that there's really not a bad seat in the house even if you're seated on the lawn so I guess I can't bitch too much. However, I wasn't very fond of the technical glitches I encountered with the ticketing site.
"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

Josh Ritter, Nov. 14, Tampa. Meeting up with daughter and her boyfriend for that one (they're in Florida now). We're "on the list".
Just cause we're cool like that.

This concert will serve as the reception for a couple of my friends who are getting married on Saturday:

Wow, that sounds like a great wedding to be invited to!
From what I understand, several of the performers will also be participating in the wedding by singing songs during the ceremony. A true musical wedding, it should be very nice (and outdoors to boot).

I think so too. I've only been to one other wedding like that before so I'm looking very forward to it.

Another write up on yesterday's nuptials and the post wedding bash in today's edition of the Raleigh News & Observer. Come to find out, that wall graffiti photo used in the article was scrawled by none other than Peter Blackstock (one of the former editors of No Depression and friend of the bride and groom). I'd say that's some pretty high praise right there. One kick ass wedding it was too with the couple letting the music (provided by Tres Chicas, Kenny Roby & Scott McCall) do most of the talking.
