I was going to put this in the geeky stuff section but I wanted as many people to see it as possible so I can get an answer!
Anyone know how to burn cd from vinyl or cassette?

good question...I've also thought about trying to do that. Kind of easier to bring with you than HUGE vinyl records.
I'm saving that address for later....thanks lizish

I know my hubbie, Drew can - and if he's lurking - I'm sure he'll post about it. He loves doing stuff like that :)

Wow, that original post is from a long time ago. I know he figured out how to do it because he sent me CDs of stuff that was on vinyl.
There are several ways to burn from vinyl to CD, but the few times I did it I was in a music lab using fancy equipment. We now have a contraption that will copy an LP directly to CD but you need a specific type of CD. I need to take advantage of it, too. I have a few albums that were never released on CD.

I didn't even look at the date, hell, it's been a l-o-n-g time since I've been in, so it's fair game ;)

I followed those directions a couple years ago to get things like the Neil Young LPs, Toots and the Maytals etc on CDR. It was a pretty good set of instructions that I believe was from Etree.org.
Found some other links just via google:

I connected
1) Turntable to the
2) Preamp (which I had to buy at a electronics store - If you hook it up to a stereo with a phono input, I don't think you need this - but not that many recent stereos have phono inputs) to the
3) Computer soundcard input to
4) EAC converts it to a
5) Wav file (and then divided things into tracks by cutting and pasting, but I bet there is a better way using CD Cue Sheets)
6) Fuerio to assemble the tracks into something to burn
7) CDR.
This was all working on an old celeron 500 at the time and I made a couple coasters before I got any good. After that, it worked like a charm.
