Okay people I have a question, I picked up a six track EP by Tanzplagen at a local record fair for £5, it has the 'lost' single and four live tracks on it and....it's pretty good.
Does anyone have any idea of it's worth/authenticity?

I moved the question over here as there may be more of a response in this section.

I have a copy as well. As far as I know, it is the real deal. It's evidently not that rare, I paid $6 for it used. I imagine there's a write-up on it at the R.E.M. Collector's Guide web site. Sorry, I don't know the url right off the top of my head.

Yes we agree with you...we are all for supporting artists, i think people should visti the site and buy it. This site has a deal with the REM management that lets us share non commercial REM material. I have no idea how that deal would encompass bands such as Tanzplagen. But either way the rules of this site for a long time is non-commercial material include out of date, deleted catalog stuff, internnational release material etc.

The band is legendary around here for its ties with REM....actually were you part of the originally lineup?

My only point is all you had to do was say "guess what guys our CD is being re-released" and you would have got tremendous support.

If this fella wants to sell more CDs he's not doing a very good job of it.

"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

I put Tanzplagen into google and the first 2 results were murmurs so hes obviously doing the rounds making sure no one is cutting into his revenue.

If he knew anything about this site rather than just join up to flame us he would understand how things work around here.

Logging on to say we "sicken him" isnt the way to win over the larget REM community on the planet and one of the biggest audiences hes going to get to buy his damn cd.

What about the "won't be back" part? And just how does one "cancel their membership" at Murmurs? That's a new one on me....

Who would have thought there will be flaming going on in Artifacts.

Anyway, as Sibko have said already we do not allow any officially released (even OOP) materials to be shared here. We will take it down and if its a repeat offender we will ban them here. We have our rules posted everywhere on this site, the Torrents link on top and on the homepage. So do worry about your intelectual property, William. It will be safe here. Welcome to Murmurs by the way!
