Like the Leno or Letterman question, I think this is a very important question.

For me, there's no contest.  Chicago style beats NY out of the water.  There's nothing like a big deep dish from Pizzeria Uno (not the franchises, they suck), Gino's East, Pizzeria Ora, or Edwardo's.  MMmm, I can taste it now.
My brother says eating a real Chicago pizza is like eating a bowling ball.  I think that's probably true.  However, there's nothing more satisfying than laying back with a big wad of bowling ball lodged in my stomach.
NY pizza is too boring.  It's simply big and salty.  Cannot even compare.  I do like it though, just not as much as Chicago.

I've never had Chicago style pizza, so I can't answer that part of the question.

What I like about NY style pizza is the ability to eat it without a plate. It seems to be meant to be bought by a slice and walked out the parlor, napkin in hand, no plate.

BTW, I've never had trouble with the taste. I've not been that sensitive to the taste. I do know I love cold pizza in the morning.

Chicago style pizza is just plain nasty.  New York Style is just plain yummy. Italian pizza is just the plain best.

Neither.

No matter what you can say to make fun of the city, Buffalo has the best pizza.

Friends that have moved to Chicago & NYC have complained to me that they miss Buffalo pizza, as do I. It's the best, same goes for the wings.

What I like about Chicago Style is that it allows for the ability to add a lot of ingredients. I think New York style isnt even like a regular thin crust but something lesss than that and i just love to pile it on.

Chicago style is more like a pie to me, and I have liked the way hte cheese melts on it too.

I dont like Chicago Style Pizzas many times in other cities though. I dont think they do it right.

Id personaly take a stuffed pizza over chicago though. mmm those are very good...:)

Agreed!  The thing I don't like about Chicago style is the sauce on the top of the pie ... blechy.

I've never had New York style pizza. I have had several versions of Chicago style pizza, but only once in Chicago -- and it was verry yummy. But, it isn't the kind of pizza I would like to have all the time.

As far as pizza goes, I like a thin, crisp crust, which is why I'm not too sure about New York style -- it looks soggy.

I have had pizza in New York -- at the JFK Marriot, and it was good, but it was midnight, I had been travelling since the night before and I was stranded -- at that point, a shoe probably would have tasted good.

The best pizza I have ever had? Pizza from this small, family-run restuarant outside of Rickling, Germany. To this day, I haven't been able to find any pizza that comes close to that one.

That's the kind I was thinking of when I said yucky.

Stuffed Pizza here is when they make a pizza with loads of toppings and then fold it over and seal the crust before baking.  You then cut it into thin slices and dip it in ranch dressing and it's very very yummy.

I tasted the chicago style with the sauce on top while I was in chicago and I really didnt' like it. It's way too heavy.

Too bad...hehe..

I have never even heard of that. It sounds more like a sliced up calzone. Or a pizza pocket you get in your grocers freezer section...but um putting ranch dressing on pizza? Ok.. sounds a bit foofy to me.

Yeah it is kind of like a giant calzone now that I think about it, but it's much yummier than a regular calzone, with lots more stuff inside.

Well they also have a marinara dipping sauce if the Ranch is too Californian for you :)

I think NY pizza lacks originality.  It just takes something and makes it bigger.  It's also way too greasy.  Sure, Chicago pizza is greasy, but most of it is hidden below the tomato sauce so I don't notice it.  Chicago pizza is more inventive and versatile.
I think NY pizza is better cold the second day, but Chicago pizza is better microwaved the second day.  It's kind of a weird thing.

Just went to Gino's East before going to Second City's "Embryo's on Ice or Fetus Don't Fail Me Now."  Man was the pizza delicious.  More proof of my point.

ps.  If you have the chance to go to Second City, don't miss that show.  It's hilarious.  Much better than the show on the etc stage.
