The Rolling Stones and Oasis, in a diffrent style, come close, though.

BTW I happened to listen to a record I hadn't listened to for ages which is "Attack of the grey lantern" by Mansun and I found it pretty good. I loved them at the time, they had great singles and great videos ("Wide open space", "She makes my nose bleed"). I have lost their trace since then but I think their recent records are pretty bad, or at least that's what I heard of them.

Britain includes England Scotland and Wales.  Therefore you can be scottish and be british.  It isnt a contradiction

I won't mention loads that have already had a mention but two of my old faves...one from a long time ago...(late seventies) Be-Bop Deluxe and another from the eighties (but i think they're still going) The Blue Nile.

I suppose I like some of the most popular bands ever,but I think their music is as good as their popularity.Here is my top 10 in order of my preferences:
1.The Beatles
2.The Rolling Stones
3.The Who
4.Led Zeppelin
5.Pink Floyd
6.ERic Clapton(not his solo efforts,but his 60's bands,Cream,Blind Faith,Derek & the Dominoes,John Mayall & The Blues Breakers)
7.Elton John,David Bowie
8.Radiohead
9.Oasis
10.Sex Pistols

travis, blur, stereophonics, coldplay, ash, feeder, PJ Harvey, doves, muse, i am kloot, turin brakes, massive attack, portishead, radiohead (yes christian!), idlewild, belle and sebastian, centro-matic (if they're british, i'm not sure)...

ELBOW! i nearly forgot them.

i could continue a while here and so should others!

Stop putting oasis in though, they suck.

3. Oasis

4. Muse

5. Stereophonics (well, they're Welsh... but fuck it! Travis is Scottish)

6. The Verve

7. Catatonia (again... Welsh)

8. Super Furry Animals (wha'dya know...? Welsh!)

9. Manic Street Preachers (OK.. enough with the Welsh already!)

10. Unbelievable Truth (Well... they are 'no more', but hey... it's Andy Yorke's (Thom's little brother) band and they were amazing!)

11. Beatles (oh Lord!!...)

12. Coldplay

13. Starailor (ah yes, our little freshmen)

14. Elvis Costello (what? bands only? OK... Elvis Costello & The Attractions)
