"We were listening to the UNC radio (station) there and they were playing an R.E.M. song. I like R.E.M. fine, but at the end of it, the DJ says, 'Ya that was R.E.M., the sound of the new South'. I looked at my roommate and we said, Gawd, if that's the sound of the new South, I preferred it when it was on the skids. That's how we got the name."

I understand this resembles the Jackson Browne album cover. But what is it?

Not to be a smartass but it's Running On Empty by Jackson Browne.

Vinyl single from Samantha Crain. I was hoping she'd have her new album (Kid Face) on sale at her merch stand tonight but no such luck, I'll have to wait until it drops next month.

Daniel Romano - Come Cry with Me
the record company is Normaltown records from Athens GA. Odd that it is not on his own record company - You've Changed.
It is also sooooooo good.

Thanks for posting. I've seen this cover pop up a few times on the listening thread over at Three Dimes Down (a Drive-By Truckers board). I need to check it out. I wanted to ask about it at the record store the other day but couldn't remember the name of it.

Jonathan - I 'd think you'd like it a lot. This is his third solo LP - all with very George Jones feel. The first one, Workin' for the Music Man is my favourite, but they are all worth hearing.
